Josh Hart apparently had no trouble turning Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods’ star-packed wedding reception into another Knicks celebration.
Jose Alvarado, who attended the couple’s Aug. 15 wedding in Malibu, was asked by TMZ Sports which guest was the best dancer that night. He did not hesitate before answering: “Josh Hart.”
Alvarado also described what it was like sharing the room with a guest list that mixed NBA stars with some of Hollywood’s biggest names. “Definitely different to be in that room, but it was dope,” he said, adding that it was “cool to see all those people show up” for someone he called “our brother.”
Hart had plenty of competition for attention. The Malibu celebration included Knicks teammates and NBA stars alongside Kylie Jenner, Timothée Chalamet, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Michael B. Jordan, Ben Stiller, Gayle King and other high-profile guests.
Josh Hart Was Alvarado’s Easy Pick for Best Dancer
TMZ Sports caught up with Alvarado at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday as he returned from the wedding festivities. Asked about the atmosphere inside a celebration attended by actors, musicians, celebrities and basketball stars, Alvarado acknowledged that the room was unusual even by NBA standards.
“Definitely different to be in that room, but it was dope,” he said. “You know, everybody, no matter what level you are, everybody’s human, so it was just cool to be around that.” Then TMZ asked the simplest question of the interview: who was the best dancer? “Josh Hart,” Alvarado answered immediately.
The Reception Was Designed to Keep Everyone Dancing
Hart’s performance came at a reception built around keeping guests on the dance floor. In Vogue’s detailed look at the wedding weekend, Woods said the atmosphere changed dramatically once dinner was finished and the reception began. “The band was incredible, the food was amazing, and the energy completely shifted into a party,” she recalled.
Wedding planner Mindy Weiss arranged a 15-piece band before a DJ took over later in the evening. Towns said he and Woods deliberately wanted the party to feel more old-school than a celebrity event dominated by people filming themselves. “We wanted there to be real connection and for everyone to put their phones down,” Towns told Vogue. “We wanted that pre-phones 2000s vibe.”
The celebration lasted into the early morning. Vogue’s wedding gallery shows the newlyweds and their guests filling the dance floor before the night eventually moved outside, where Woods and Towns ate In-N-Out burgers with friends.
The Knicks Brought Their Championship Celebration With Them
Basketball followed Towns all the way to the reception. Gayle King later revealed that the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy was brought onto the dance floor during the celebration, according to PEOPLE.
King described the moment as one of the highlights of the night, with Towns’ basketball friends and other guests celebrating around the trophy after the Knicks’ 2026 NBA championship.
Hart was one of several Knicks players in attendance. Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby, Mohamed Diawara and other members of Towns’ basketball circle were also among the guests.
Vogue’s official gallery includes Towns posing with Hart and several teammates in a photograph captioned “Ring season,” an appropriate description after a year that gave Towns both an NBA championship ring and a wedding band.
The Guest List Mixed Knicks Teammates With Hollywood Stars
The basketball contingent shared the wedding with a celebrity guest list that stretched well beyond the NBA. Vogue identified Kylie Jenner, Timothée Chalamet, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Gayle King, Jaden Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, Ben Stiller and Michael B. Jordan among those celebrating with the couple.
PEOPLE also reported appearances by Tracy Morgan, Chris Paul and other NBA figures. Alvarado told TMZ the celebrity mix made the experience feel different. The couple wanted guests focused on the wedding and the party happening around them. Hart apparently understood the assignment.
Woods and Towns Had Already Married Four Days Earlier
The Malibu ceremony was actually the couple’s second wedding event that week. On Aug. 11, four days before the larger celebration, Woods and Towns quietly went to the Santa Barbara courthouse for a civil ceremony.
Vogue reported that Woods wore a white Thom Browne skirt suit inspired by Bianca Jagger for the courthouse appearance, while Towns wore Ralph Lauren.
The Aug. 15 wedding then brought their families, teammates and famous friends together at a private estate overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Malibu. Woods wore a custom Danielle Frankel gown for the ceremony before changing into additional looks during the reception and after-party.
