Kate Middleton reportedly wants Prince Harry to apologize to her and Prince William before they rebuild their relationship. The claim comes from an unnamed source quoted by Heat.
In its October 30 account of that report, Reality Tea described a possible apology to Queen Camilla over Harry’s criticism of her in his 2023 memoir, Spare.
The source suggested he was considering that approach to improve relations with King Charles. The same person claimed William would question the sincerity of an apology to Camilla.
Kate, the source said, understood Charles’ wish for peace but still felt resentment over the family’s disagreements.
An Earlier Report of an Apology Plan Was Dismissed as ‘Nonsense’
On October 7, PEOPLE reported that a source close to Harry and Meghan Markle had rejected a different story about their intentions. The Daily Express had claimed the previous day that the couple hoped to apologize to William and Kate over comments made during their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The source called that account “nonsense.” PEOPLE also reported that Harry had made progress in his relationship with his father, while his estrangement from William continued.
Harry Discussed His Criticism of Camilla While Promoting ‘Spare’
Harry spoke about his stepmother during a January 8, 2023, interview with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes. He described how the British press had portrayed her during Charles’ marriage to Princess Diana and said she subsequently needed to rebuild her public image.
As The Associated Press reported at the time, Harry accused Camilla of leaking private conversations to improve her reputation. He argued that he had suffered from those efforts to secure favorable coverage.
His BBC Reconciliation Appeal Came in May 2025
Harry had already called for reconciliation in a May 2, 2025, interview with BBC News‘ Nada Tawfik. Speaking in California after losing an appeal over his security arrangements in Britain, he described being cut off from his father.
“He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff,” Harry said at the time. He also expressed a wish to end the conflict with his family.
Harry’s Spokesperson Clarified His Comment About ‘Some People’
In the October 20 episode of GQ‘s One More Question, Zach Baron asked whether Harry grieved his complicated relationships with his father and brother. Harry said he did and described family estrangement as something many people experience.
“Some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out,” he said. He also expressed hope that damaged relationships could be repaired despite lasting hurt. The conversation was recorded in New York in September.
A spokesperson subsequently told ABC News that the reference to “some people” was a general observation, not a criticism of William or another relative. The representative said the comment was “not intended as a swipe” at his brother.
