Katy Perry turned a festival performance in Spain into a staged relationship joke, using a giant phone screen to decline calls from famous exes before accepting one tied to Justin Trudeau.

The 41-year-old singer was performing at the O Son do Camiño music festival in Santiago de Compostela on Thursday, June 18, when the phone gag appeared during “Never Really Over.” People reported that the screen showed fake incoming calls from names connected to Perry’s dating history, while Perry acted out ignoring or declining them as part of the performance.

The bit ended with Perry accepting a call from “JPJT,” a reference to Justin Pierre James Trudeau. The contact was paired with a red heart and a Canadian flag, giving the performance a public nod to Trudeau nearly two weeks after the couple made their red carpet debut at the Tribeca Festival.

Perry and Trudeau have been dating since the summer of 2025, according to People. Their relationship has become part of Perry’s current public era, from the Tribeca premiere of Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris to this onstage joke built around one of her best-known breakup songs.

Perry Declined Calls From Diplo, John Mayer and Orlando Bloom

The first call shown during the performance came from Diplo, who was briefly linked to Perry in 2014. People reported that Perry repeatedly hit “decline” on the stage phone, then covered her eyes and moved away from the screen before continuing the song.

A second incoming call appeared from “JM,” which was widely read as a reference to John Mayer, whom Perry dated on and off from 2012 to 2015. She looked back at the screen but did not answer, then kept singing as the stage bit continued.

The final ex-related call came from “OB,” a reference to Orlando Bloom. Perry and Bloom ended their engagement in June 2025 after nine years together, and they share daughter Daisy Dove. Their representatives said at the time that the former couple had shifted their relationship toward co-parenting and would continue focusing on raising their daughter, according to Billboard Canada.

Perry and Trudeau made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Tribeca Festival on June 8, where he supported her at the premiere of Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris. People reported that the former Canadian prime minister posed with Perry at the New York City event, which centered on her concert film.

At the same premiere, Perry spoke about feeling more grounded in the relationship. “I feel like a more grounded person in so many aspects of my life,” she said, according to People. “I am very in love. And actually, that show was after I met the love of my life and so I felt very anchored by that because I’m a little bit like a rainbow kite.”

She added that having that anchor made her feel “really whole.” Less than two weeks later, the O Son do Camiño phone bit gave fans another public relationship reference, this time inside the performance itself.
