Kourtney Kardashian says Kanye West once gave her a dating rule: “You should not hook up with any randoms until you are with your husband.”
The 47-year-old recalled the conversation on the October 22 episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians. West, she said, had told her he felt God was calling him to deliver the message.
“And I didn’t,” Kourtney said of the casual hookups, according to People. West was her brother-in-law through his marriage to her younger sister, Kim Kardashian.
Kourtney and Travis Barker, the 50-year-old Blink-182 drummer, began dating in early 2021 and announced their engagement that October. He proposed to her on a beach in Montecito, California.
A Producer Questions Kourtney’s Advice to Landon Barker
During a tour of his new home, Landon Barker told Kourtney about parties he and his roommate planned to host. The 23-year-old is Travis’s son with his former wife, Shanna Moakler.
Kourtney responded by sarcastically urging both young men to wait until marriage before having sex.
A producer asked whether that had been her approach with Travis. She acknowledged that they had not waited until their wedding, according to Page Six.
Travis Describes the Friendship Behind Their Romance
On the October 14 episode of Billy Corgan’s The Magnificent Others podcast, Travis described the attraction that existed while he and Kourtney were friends and neighbors. People around them repeatedly suggested they should date.
“When it happened, it was like a perfect symmetry from both of our sides,” he said.
He explained that both expected to fall deeply in love if they took their relationship further. Beginning a romance with someone he already knew and cared about was a new experience for him.
Three Wedding Celebrations Took Them From Las Vegas to Italy
An unplanned visit to a Las Vegas chapel after the 2022 Grammys became the first of three wedding celebrations. The April 4 ceremony took place without a marriage license. The couple legally married in Santa Barbara on May 15.
Only Kourtney’s grandmother and Travis’s father accompanied them to that ceremony. In a Vogue interview the following year, she explained that the two relatives could not attend their Italian wedding.
The larger celebration followed in Portofino on May 22. Kourtney put the guest count at around 40, with invitations going to family and friends whom both she and Travis knew.
Footage from the celebrations appeared in the 2023 Hulu special ’Til Death Do Us Part Kourtney & Travis. Some of the Las Vegas footage was recorded on iPhones by members of Travis’s team who had joined them for the Grammys.
Sunday Dinners and a Rule for Resolving Disagreements
The couple welcomed their son, Rocky Thirteen, in November 2023. Kourtney also shares Mason, Penelope and Reign with Scott Disick. Travis’s daughter Alabama and stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya are part of the blended family as well.
In an August interview about their household, Travis said the children got along, although their different schedules meant everyone was not always together. He described Sunday dinner as a weekly tradition the family never misses.
He said he valued being present and setting an example, and that his relationships with his children had improved as they grew older. His affection for Atiana, now 27, had remained unchanged since she was 2.
The couple also has an agreement about handling disagreements, which Travis discussed in an interview published on August 12: “We try not to ever fall asleep mad at each other.”
He described addressing misunderstandings about missed lunch plans or unanswered messages by taking responsibility and apologizing. They also give each other space when needed.
