LA Knight says another defeat by Roman Reigns would leave him questioning his next move after roughly two decades in professional wrestling.
“It’s almost like, put up or shut up, do or die,” Knight said on the Oct. 8 episode of TMZ’s Inside the Ring. “This is the time to do it. And if it doesn’t happen here, it’s just kind of like, where do I go from here?”
Knight will challenge Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Money in the Bank on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
His WWE résumé includes two United States Championship reigns and the Million Dollar Championship. A victory over Reigns would give him his first WWE world title.
Knight Is Unsure How Many Title Chances Remain
Asked whether this could be his final world-title opportunity, Knight acknowledged that he had helped create that impression by talking about the match in those terms.
“Can I necessarily say it is my last one ever? I don’t know,” he said.
The interview also raised the Royal Rumble as another potential route. Knight pointed to previous battle royal victories but described facing 29 other wrestlers as a difficult way to secure another championship opportunity, according to F4WOnline.
Reigns Has Thwarted Knight’s Title Bids Before
Knight challenged Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Crown Jewel in November 2023. After Knight landed a BFT, Jimmy Uso placed Reigns’ foot on the bottom rope before the three-count, according to WWE’s results.
Knight then sent Uso through the announce table, but Reigns responded by spearing Knight through the ringside barricade. A second Spear inside the ring ended the match.
Reigns retained again at the 2024 Royal Rumble in a four-way match against Knight, Randy Orton and AJ Styles.
Knight also challenged Seth Rollins twice in August 2025. Their Raw title match ended in a disqualification when CM Punk attacked Rollins. Later that month, Rollins retained against Knight, Punk and Jey Uso at Clash in Paris.
Knight landed a BFT on Rollins in that four-way, only for Uso to break up the pin. Rollins eventually pinned Punk after interference from Becky Lynch.
An Attack After Raw Secured the Rematch
Their latest rivalry developed after SummerSlam, when Knight demanded a title match and accused Reigns of relying on family members to keep him on top. Reigns argued that Knight had not earned the opportunity, according to WWE.
Knight also became involved in Solo Sikoa’s conflict with The Bloodline. When he questioned an attack on Sikoa, Reigns struck him with a Superman Punch.
On Sept. 14, Reigns retained against Penta on Raw in Mexico City. After the broadcast ended, Knight confronted the champion and dropped him with a BFT. General Manager Adam Pearce made their championship match official the following day.
The pair faced off again on the Oct. 5 episode, with Knight promising to defeat Reigns in New Orleans.
A Main-Event Win Could Bring a Cash-In Threat
Fightful reported on Oct. 8, citing WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, that Reigns vs. Knight is currently planned to close the event.
The men’s ladder match features CM Punk, Kevin Owens, Trick Williams, Penta, Je’Von Evans and Bron Breakker. Its winner receives a contract for a world-championship match at any time within the next year, creating the possibility of an immediate challenge.
“I gotta focus on getting the damn thing first before I worry about anybody cashing in on me,” Knight told TMZ.
He warned that attempting a cash-in while he was still on his feet would be a “bad idea” and suggested an approaching challenger could take a shot from the championship belt.
Money in the Bank starts at 6 p.m. ET and streams on the ESPN App with an ESPN Unlimited plan in the United States and on Netflix internationally.
