Lil Wayne apologized to fans after missing the opening night of his 20 Years of Carter Classics tour in Bangor, Maine, where the crowd waited until around 11 p.m. before being told he would not perform.
The rapper was scheduled to headline Maine Savings Amphitheater on Tuesday, June 30, after opening act 2 Chainz. PEOPLE reported that Wayne was expected to take the stage at 10:45 p.m., but the audience was told about 15 minutes later that the show was ending.
WABI reported that concertgoers had waited through a lengthy delay after 2 Chainz finished his set. The Bangor date has since been rescheduled for Tuesday, July 28.
In a message to fans, Wayne apologized for missing the performance without giving a specific reason. He told them to keep their original tickets and that more information will be emailed to them.
Wayne Said Existing Tickets Will Be Honored

Wayne addressed the missed show in an Instagram Stories post after the Bangor concert was postponed. “My Maine fans I’m so sorry,” he wrote, according to PEOPLE. “The show is being rescheduled to July 28. Please hold on to your tickets, they will be honored for the rescheduled date. More information will be emailed directly to ticket holders.”
He also wrote, “I ain’t s— without you I can’t wait to come back and give you the show you deserve.” The message did not include an explanation for why he did not appear at the June 30 show.
Ticketmaster lists the Bangor concert for Tuesday, July 28, at 7 p.m. at Maine Savings Amphitheater and says the event organizer postponed the show. The listing also tells fans to hold onto their tickets because they will be valid for the new date.
Fans Waited After 2 Chainz Finished His Set

The Bangor concert was set to open Wayne’s 20 Years of Carter Classics run. 2 Chainz performed as scheduled, and a DJ played after his set while the crowd waited for Wayne, according to PEOPLE and WABI.
Waterfront Concerts President Alex Gray apologized to the audience, PEOPLE reported. WABI reported that Gray said the venue had asked the city to extend the curfew and did everything it could to make the concert happen.
The late notice frustrated fans who had already spent the night waiting for the headline set. Entertainment Weekly reported that the show was supposed to be the first date on a tour scheduled to continue through October.
One Fan Drove More Than Six Hours From Nova Scotia
WABI spoke with Rita Sack, who said she drove more than six hours from Nova Scotia to see Wayne and 2 Chainz.
“Well, I came here for Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, and it was the most terrible experience,” Sack told the station. “We drove over six hours to be here.”
Sack said the disappointment went beyond ticket cost because people had planned their lives around the show. “Never mind the money. It’s like, moments in life and that was going to be a moment,” she said. “Like, it’s people’s time. Just don’t waste people’s time.”
She also said a brief acknowledgment from Wayne would have made a difference for the crowd. “We paid for Lil Wayne,” Sack said. “Like, the least you can do is come out for a minute, apologize, you know?”
Some Fans Still Planned to See Him Again
WABI also spoke with Makayla Sullivan, who traveled from Rhode Island and has Wayne’s face tattooed on her side.
Sullivan said she still planned to attend Wayne’s upcoming New Hampshire show. “Oh, I’m a ride or die,” she told the station. “I’m going to see him in New Hampshire on Friday. Maybe he’ll show up.”
Entertainment Weekly reported that Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., was scheduled to perform Thursday in Saratoga Springs, New York. The tour is also listed with later stops including Chicago, Long Beach, Denver and Fort Worth before concluding in October.
PEOPLE noted that Wayne previously postponed an August 2025 Toronto concert because of what the venue described at the time as “unforeseen illness.”
