Lil Wayne has introduced Madi Cannon as his fiancée less than three months after publicly denying that he was engaged and announcing that their relationship had ended.

The rapper revealed the update in a video message for fellow Hot Boys member B.G., who recently proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Brooke Jones. Cannon stood beside Wayne as he congratulated the couple before turning the camera toward her.

“I’m marrying this one,” Wayne said. “This is Madison. This is my fiancée.” Cannon waved and joined him in congratulating B.G.

The clip appeared on B.G.’s Instagram account on Sept. 28. PEOPLE identified Cannon as the 23-year-old woman previously linked to Wayne amid engagement speculation earlier this year. The couple has not publicly announced a wedding date.

Wayne’s message was originally intended to celebrate B.G.’s engagement. After introducing Cannon, he asked his longtime friend what color the wedding party would be wearing and volunteered to serve as best man.

TMZ reported on Sept. 29 that the video marked Wayne’s public announcement of his engagement to Cannon. The two appeared together on camera, although they did not discuss the proposal or share any details about their wedding plans.

Wayne Denied Engagement Rumors in July and Announced Their Split

Reports about Wayne’s relationship with Cannon began circulating in May, when TMZ claimed the rapper had quietly become engaged to a woman in her 20s from Indiana. Cannon was subsequently identified as the woman in question, although neither had confirmed an engagement.

Wayne addressed the speculation in an Instagram video posted July 5, explaining that he had recently ended a relationship and was single.

“No, I’m not engaged,” he said, describing his former partner as an amazing person before explaining that he did not want to become a burden on her amid the pressures surrounding his life and career.

E! News covered the statement on July 6, noting that Wayne had made the clarification while discussing several personal matters, including his absence from the opening date of his 20 Years of Carter Classics tour in Bangor, Maine.

The rapper captioned his Instagram video, “It is what it was.”

Wayne and Cannon Have Not Shared When They Reconciled

Neither Wayne nor Cannon has publicly explained when they resumed their relationship or when the current engagement took place.

The earlier reports about a possible proposal were never confirmed by the couple, and Wayne’s July statement explicitly denied that he was engaged at the time.

Cannon, whose full first name is Madison, is a social media personality from Kokomo, Indiana. She had been linked to Wayne before the summer breakup, but the couple has generally kept the details of their relationship private.

B.G. Proposed to Brooke Jones During a New Orleans Tour Stop

B.G.’s engagement provided the occasion for Wayne’s video. The Cash Money rapper proposed to Jones onstage during a September stop on the Cash Money and No Limit tour in New Orleans.

Wayne and B.G. have known each other since their early careers with Cash Money Records, where they performed together as members of the Hot Boys alongside Juvenile and Turk.

According to Complex, B.G. thanked Wayne for his blessing following the proposal, and Wayne offered to stand beside him as best man at the wedding.
