Love Is Blind alum Mallory Zapata has married Rigoberto Limas in a hometown celebration that brought together their families, cultures and favorite parts of Chicago.
Zapata, 37, and Limas, 41, tied the knot Friday, Sept. 18, at Rockwell on the River in front of 182 guests. She told People that choosing Chicago was easy because the city shaped both of them and remained an important part of their relationship.
“Chicago is our hometown and, in our opinion, the best city in the world, so why would we go anywhere else?” Zapata said.
Her mother, Sharon, officiated the ceremony, while her father escorted her down the aisle. The couple exchanged handwritten vows and created an ofrenda to honor loved ones who had died.

Zapata wore a Rita Vinieris gown with a clean silhouette and a dramatic tulle fishtail. Finding it took months and visits to four bridal boutiques before she revealed in April that she had finally chosen her dress.
Her father accompanied her down the aisle to Hans Zimmer’s “Cornfield Chase” from Interstellar, which Zapata called her favorite movie because of its depiction of love and home across time and space.
Zapata’s parents recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. She said having both of them participate carried particular meaning as she and Limas began their own marriage.
“I hope Rigo and I are lucky enough to build the kind of long, loving partnership they have,” she told People.
The couple wrote their own vows rather than using traditional ones. Their memorial ofrenda gave relatives who were no longer alive a place in the ceremony, with Zapata explaining that they wanted to feel those family members’ presence during the celebration.
The Reception Combined Mexican and Polish Family Traditions
Zapata and Limas chose a mostly black-and-white palette accented with deep merlot florals for what they described as a “clean, classic and romantic” celebration. Their wedding website asked guests to wear all-black formal attire.
Dinner reflected the Mexican culture the couple shares, with a family-style menu featuring poblano chicken, barbacoa, cilantro rice, fresh tortillas and salsa.
Instead of a traditional wedding cake, guests were served Mexican pastries from Aracely’s Bakery alongside kolacky cookies representing the Polish heritage of Zapata’s mother.
The couple also gave each reception table the name of a destination they had visited together, adding another personal detail drawn from their years of traveling as a couple.
For their first dance, Zapata and Limas skipped the conventional slow song and chose one of their favorite Chicago house tracks.
“We love Chicago house music,” Zapata told People. “It felt much more like us than choosing a traditional slow song, and we loved being able to bring another piece of Chicago into the wedding.”
They Met on Hinge and Later Found Their Way Back to Each Other

Zapata and Limas first connected on Hinge about six years ago, although their relationship did not immediately follow a straight path to marriage.
“Life led us down our own paths for a while, yet somehow, we always found our way back to each other,” they wrote on their wedding website. The couple said their friendship eventually became the foundation for a deeper relationship built around travel, food and spending time together at home.
Zapata publicly introduced Limas as her partner in July 2024 after sharing photographs from music festivals they attended together.
Limas proposed in Tokyo in March 2025 during cherry blossom season. The engagement photos showed him on one knee with Tokyo Tower visible in the distance.
“Chapter 36 just started but I’m ready to spend forever with you,” Zapata wrote when announcing the engagement. “Thank you for making this the most unforgettable birthday full of adventures, happy tears, laughter, and lots of love.”
Before meeting Limas, Zapata became known to Netflix viewers through the Chicago-based second season of Love Is Blind. She became engaged to Salvador “Sal” Perez after meeting him in the pods, but Perez said no at the altar and the relationship ended after filming.
Zapata and Limas are now planning a honeymoon through Greece, Croatia and Spain. She also told People that they hope to start a family as they settle into married life.
