McKenna Grace and Mason Thames took their real-life romance somewhere especially appropriate for two actors with horror movies on their résumés.
The couple were spotted at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights on Saturday, Sept. 19, where they walked through the park with friends and held hands while making their way through the scare zones, according to Just Jared.
Grace, 20, and Thames, 19, have also spent plenty of time together on movie sets. They have already made two films together, while Thames has spoken publicly about how much he enjoys working with Grace and how easily their professional chemistry comes together.
The Halloween outing had another connection to their separate careers. Thames leads Universal and Blumhouse’s Black Phone films as Finn, while Grace joined another Blumhouse franchise with Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.
The Couple Held Hands Through the Scare Zones

The pair were photographed enjoying the separately ticketed Universal Studios Hollywood event, which is running on select nights from Sept. 3 through Nov. 1 this year.
Their visit fell during the event’s third weekend, with Universal’s 2026 lineup featuring haunted houses, scare zones, the Terror Tram and other horror-themed attractions.
The couple’s relationship had already moved well beyond the speculation that followed them during the Regretting You era. After months of public appearances and dating rumors, Thames shared photos from a Paris trip with Grace in February, including an image of her kissing him in front of the Eiffel Tower.
A month later, both attended the 2026 Academy Awards. When Thames was asked on the carpet what it was like “falling in love on a movie set,” he answered, “pretty great.”
Their Horror Credits Made the Date Especially Fitting
Thames has already faced considerably more frightening surroundings onscreen. He first played Finn in 2022’s The Black Phone and returned for Black Phone 2, which continued the character’s story four years after he escaped Ethan Hawke’s Grabber.
In the sequel, Finn is 17 and still dealing with the trauma of his captivity while his younger sister Gwen, played again by Madeleine McGraw, begins receiving supernatural calls and visions connected to the killer.
Grace entered a different Universal and Blumhouse horror franchise with Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, released in December 2025. Universal lists Grace among the sequel’s new cast members alongside Freddy Carter, Wayne Knight and Skeet Ulrich, joining returning stars Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio and Matthew Lillard.
Her horror résumé stretches considerably further back. Grace played Judy Warren in Annabelle Comes Home and also appeared in Malignant and Amityville: The Awakening.
Grace and Thames Have Already Made Two Movies Together
Their first released movie together was Regretting You, the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel in which Grace played Clara Grant and Thames played Miller Adams. But Thames has said the Green Day-inspired comedy Nimrods was actually the first project they filmed together.
“So we did Green Day first,” Thames told People. He said they went directly into Regretting You afterward and described the coincidence of landing two back-to-back projects together as “awesome.”
Grace also helped Thames prepare for his Nimrods role as aspiring musician Tommy. Thames told People that Grace created an edited “guitar for dummies” tutorial to help him learn how to hold and play the instrument convincingly for the film.
He has been equally positive about working with her more generally, praising the way Grace transforms into her characters while remaining professional and still having fun on set. “If we were ever going to do another job together, we’d want it to be so special and so awesome,” he told People, adding that they would take the opportunity when the right project appeared.
