Cash Jacobs says Miley Cyrus flew her back to Los Angeles and helped shave her head backstage at the Hollywood Bowl.

Jacobs, a New York singer-songwriter and longtime Cyrus fan, is undergoing chemotherapy for stage 3 breast cancer. She once drove 14 hours to see the singer perform in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, PEOPLE reported.

Jacobs posted footage of their meeting on October 21. “You can be soft and strong at the same time,” Cyrus told her, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Cyrus’ two sold-out Hollywood Bowl shows celebrated Bass Persuades, released September 18. About 18,000 people attended opening night, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Jacobs Asked TikTok Viewers to Help Her Reach Cyrus

In an October 15 post, Jacobs asked viewers to tag Cyrus and her team so they would see her wish to have the singer shave her head. She hoped the message would reach them before opening night.

Her hair was already falling out, and in an update before the concert she worried there might be little left for Cyrus to shave. She joked that even if only “three strands” remained, that would be enough.

Jacobs planned to wear a wig because she felt self-conscious about her thinning hair. If Cyrus called her name from the stage, she was ready to pull it off and wave it so the singer could find her in the crowd.

An Email Raised Her Hopes, but the First Show Ended Without a Meeting

Shortly before the October 16 performance, Cyrus’ team emailed Jacobs asking for her seat number and contact information. She described the message as promising, but she left the concert without seeing the singer backstage.

In her follow-up video, Jacobs praised the performance and said she had cried while watching. “I’m going to shave my head when I get home. I’d rather be around loved ones, family and do that,” she said. Jacobs said Cyrus also provided tickets for the October 18 concert.

Cyrus Checked That Jacobs Was Ready Before Picking Up the Clippers

“Are we actually doing it?” Cyrus asked during their backstage meeting after the second show, according to Us Weekly. She added, “I’ve shaved my head before.”

Before getting started, Cyrus thanked the universe for bringing them together and spoke about the connections music creates. She told Jacobs she felt honored to be the person asked to share the experience.

Once Jacobs confirmed she was ready, Cyrus began using the electric clippers as they stood in front of a mirror. During the haircut, she complimented Jacobs’ face, the shape of her head and her small ears.

Jacobs Explained What Cyrus’ Music Had Meant to Her

In the video’s caption, Jacobs reflected on having a port placed in her chest and described the haircut as one of the most intimate experiences of her life.

Cyrus’ songs, she wrote, had helped her through bouts of depression and other difficult periods. She explained that hearing those songs could remind her of what she had already endured.

She thanked the people who had tagged Cyrus and shared her request, crediting their support with helping the message reach her. Jacobs also praised the singer’s kindness and the way she made her feel safe and comfortable during the encounter. “They say don’t meet your idols. Well I did. And it was everything and more,” Jacobs wrote.
