Millie Bobby Brown says Tom Cruise once let her fly his helicopter, but she is not sure she wants another turn with his aircraft.
The Stranger Things and Enola Holmes star spoke about Cruise during a live taping of Happy Sad Confused with Josh Horowitz at the 92nd Street Y in New York City on June 24. People reported that Brown called Cruise a “dear friend” and a “wonderful man.”
Brown said Cruise keeps encouraging her toward bigger flying challenges. “Tom does the craziest stuff,” she said, according to People. “I think he’s trying to get me to somehow fly a plane at some point.”
She then said she had already flown his helicopter and joked, “This is the last time I ever fly any of his equipment.”
Brown Said Cruise Wants Her to Fly a Plane Next
Entertainment Weekly reported that Brown discussed Cruise after Horowitz asked whether she really knows him in real life. Brown had previously compared herself to Cruise while talking about doing her own stunts.
“He’s a dear friend,” Brown said, according to People. “He’s a wonderful man and I’m very lucky to call him my friend.”
She Has Compared Her Stunt Work to Tom Cruise
Brown’s Cruise story came up while she was discussing her move into more physical screen roles. People reported that Brown said she wants young girls to believe they can learn difficult action skills when stunts are safely coordinated.
She said actors can learn how to land and perform certain techniques with a good stunt coordinator. Brown also said she tries to do about 90% of her own stunts, while the remaining 10% may be restricted by her contract.
Entertainment Weekly noted that Brown made a similar comparison in 2024 while promoting Netflix’s Damsel. She said on The Drew Barrymore Show that she felt like “the female version of Tom Cruise” while performing stunt work for the fantasy film.
Cruise Became Licensed for Mission: Impossible — Fallout
Cruise became a licensed helicopter pilot while training for Mission: Impossible — Fallout, according to People. Entertainment Weekly reported that he has continued flying recreationally since then.
Other actors have also shared Cruise helicopter stories. Entertainment Weekly reported that Glen Powell told British GQ in 2024 that Cruise flew him to London in a helicopter after Top Gun: Maverick reshoots and pretended something was wrong mid-flight.
Ryan Gosling also told Happy Sad Confused that Cruise flew a helicopter onto the set of Star Wars: Starfighter while director Shawn Levy was filming a lightsaber sequence, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Brown Is Promoting Enola Holmes 3
Brown is promoting Enola Holmes 3, which releases on Netflix on July 1. Netflix Tudum says the third film sends Enola Holmes to Malta after Sherlock Holmes is kidnapped on the way to her wedding to Lord Tewkesbury.
The film stars Brown as Enola, Louis Partridge as Tewkesbury, Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, Himesh Patel as Dr. John Watson, Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Moriarty.
People reported that the full Happy Sad Confused conversation will be released June 29.
