Madonna told Graham Norton that she was once “a little bit jealous” of Kylie Minogue during a new BBC special tied to her upcoming album Confessions II.
The comment came as Madonna looked back at the rhinestone “Kylie” T-shirt she wore at the 2000 MTV Europe Music Awards. Entertainment Weekly reported that Madonna said she wore the shirt because she admired Minogue and was “slightly in love with her.”
Madonna also said part of the feeling came from her then-husband, Guy Ritchie. “I was also a little bit jealous of her because Guy Ritchie had a crush on her,” she said, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Minogue appeared during the BBC special, where the two singers also addressed rumors that they may have recorded together for Confessions II.

Norton asked Madonna about the “Kylie” shirt during the BBC interview. Madonna said she was in her “Western mode” at the time and was rhinestoning clothes, according to Entertainment Weekly.
“I was making a T-shirt for an artist that I was slightly in love with and admiring from afar,” Madonna said.
Minogue said she did not know about the shirt before Madonna wore it. Entertainment Weekly reported that Minogue said she had “no warning” and remembered thinking, “What? That’s my name on Madonna’s T-shirt.”
Kylie Minogue Joined the Interview as a Surprise Guest
Minogue appeared during the special as part of a staged bar scene. AOL reported that Minogue served Madonna a grapefruit cocktail and Norton a “cheap” white wine.
The singers also discussed their 2024 performance during Madonna’s Celebration Tour in Los Angeles. People reported that they performed “I Will Survive” and Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out of My Head.”
“What a moment. I absolutely loved that,” Minogue said, according to People.
They Did Not Confirm a Confessions II Collaboration
Norton asked Madonna whether Minogue appears on Confessions II. People reported that Madonna smirked and replied, “Why do you have to know everything?”
“It’s my job to be mysterious,” Madonna said.
Minogue laughed and said Madonna was “good at deflecting,” according to People. Neither singer confirmed the rumored collaboration.
Madonna Is Releasing Confessions II in July
Confessions II is scheduled for release July 3. The album follows Madonna’s 2005 dance record Confessions on a Dance Floor.
People reported that Madonna discussed the album during the BBC special and spoke about working with producer Stuart Price again. Price produced Confessions on a Dance Floor and reunited with Madonna for the new project.
The Guardian reported that the BBC special, titled Madonna & Graham, was filmed at London’s Koko and included appearances from Minogue and Price.
