Morgan Wallen’s Pittsburgh concert turned into another viral tour clip after video showed him taking a phone from a security guard near the stage and throwing it across the stage.

The moment happened Friday, June 5, during Wallen’s Still The Problem tour stop at Acrisure Stadium. TMZ reported that footage showed Wallen noticing the guard holding up a cellphone, grabbing the device, and launching it away during the show.

The clip spread quickly because the moment was brief, abrupt, and unexplained.

Wallen appeared to gesture toward the phone, walk away, then return and take it from the guard’s hand.

Reports Said the Phone May Have Come From a Fan

The phone did not clearly appear to be the guard’s personal device. TMZ reported that fans who saw the moment claimed the guard was helping someone in the crowd record video, not filming for herself.

Page Six reported that a TikTok user who posted footage of the incident claimed a fan had handed the phone to the guard for Wallen before he threw it. The outlet said Wallen’s representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Without a public explanation from Wallen, the clip left two separate questions for fans to argue over: whether the guard should have been holding up the phone in the first place, and whether Wallen’s reaction was excessive.

The Clip Followed His Viral Piano Moment

The Pittsburgh phone incident came days after Wallen went viral for another onstage moment in Denver.

During a May 29 concert in Denver, Wallen appeared to have technical trouble while performing “Sand in My Boots” at a piano. Taste of Country reported that he finished the song a cappella, then returned to the piano and pushed it over.

Wallen later joked about that incident in a TikTok video. According to People, he showed himself with another piano and said, “Right now this piano is working.”

His Second Pittsburgh Show Was Canceled

The phone clip was not the only Pittsburgh headline from Wallen’s weekend.

His second scheduled show at Acrisure Stadium, set for Saturday, June 6, was canceled because of expected severe weather. CBS Pittsburgh reported that the cancellation came after Wallen had played the first Pittsburgh show on Friday night.

Wallen addressed the cancellation on Instagram Stories, saying the decision came after conversations with local officials and his team.

“After talking to local officials and my team, there is no choice but to cancel tonight’s show due to severe adverse weather conditions expected throughout the rest of the day and night,” Wallen wrote, according to People. “Safety for my fans and crew is the highest priority.”

Refunds were made available at the point of purchase.

Wallen Pushed Back on Cancellation Rumors

The cancellation drew criticism from disappointed fans, especially after some questioned whether the severe weather threat matched the timing of the decision.

Wallen later posted a video pushing back on what he called “nonsense” commentary. He said his team told him strong winds were expected in the area and that his large stage could become dangerous under those conditions.

“I did the best I could with the information I had in that moment,” he said, according to People.

That explanation addressed the canceled Saturday show, not the phone incident from the Friday concert. As of the latest reports, Wallen has not publicly explained why he threw the phone during the June 5 performance.
