Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber reunited in the front row of New York Fashion Week to watch their daughter Kai walk for Thom Browne.

The former couple attended the designer’s Spring 2027 show at The Shed on September 15, where 17-year-old Kai appeared on the runway during the final night of the official NYFW schedule. Page Six photographed Watts and Schreiber sitting together before the show.

Kai walked in an insect-inspired look featuring patterned layers, a mesh face covering and colorful makeup. The collection transformed Browne’s familiar tailoring with butterflies, bees, grasshoppers and other elements drawn from a garden undergoing metamorphosis.

The appearance came four days after another milestone for Kai. She received Breakthrough Model of the Year at The Daily Front Row’s Fashion Media Awards, where both of her parents were on hand to celebrate an honor that arrived less than two years after her professional runway debut.

Kai Walked Thom Browne’s Final NYFW Show

Thom Browne presented his Spring 2027 women’s collection on September 15, closing the official New York Fashion Week schedule with 57 looks. The collection used insects, flowers and garden imagery throughout its tailoring, embroidery and staging.

Kai was given a particularly theatrical role in the show. Thom Browne told Vanity Fair that her background in classical ballet and ability to express herself through movement made her a natural choice for the performance. Kai later said she “felt like a unicorn” while taking part in the presentation.

Watts and Schreiber watched from the front row alongside guests including Demi Moore. The actors separated in 2016 and also share 19-year-old son Sasha, but they have continued appearing together for major moments in their children’s lives.

Kai received Breakthrough Model of the Year at The Daily Front Row’s Fashion Media Awards on September 11 at New York’s Rainbow Room. Watts and Schreiber both attended as their daughter accepted the honor.

During her speech, Kai thanked her family for their “unconditional support” and acknowledged the trans women in fashion who helped create opportunities for the generation that followed them. She also noted that she was the first trans girl to receive the award.

The Daily Front Row included Kai among the night’s honorees alongside figures including Twiggy, Bethann Hardison, Jordan Roth and Jenna Lyons. Watts later celebrated the award on Instagram, praising Kai’s creativity, commitment to fashion and the community she has found within the industry.

The ceremony came only days before Watts and Schreiber were back together in the audience for the Thom Browne show, giving Kai two major career moments during the same New York Fashion Week.

Kai’s professional runway career began in March 2025 when she walked Valentino’s Fall 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week. Watts celebrated the debut online at the time, sharing photos and backstage footage while writing that she was “squealing with pride.”

Kai has since appeared for fashion houses including Valentino, Fendi and Jean Paul Gaultier as her modeling schedule expanded beyond that first Paris appearance. She and Watts also appeared together in a Simkhai Fall 2026 campaign.

Her interest in modeling began years before she entered the industry professionally. In a 2025 Interview conversation, Kai said she had practiced runway walks in the family’s kitchen for years and regularly made Watts record them.

“I want to be a supermodel. Period,” she said at the time. By the following September, she had received her first major modeling award and walked the show that brought New York Fashion Week’s Spring 2027 schedule to a close.
