Parker and Hallie Ray announced the birth with a series of photographs taken at the hospital. One image showed the parents sitting together on a hospital bed with Rocker in Hallie Ray’s arms and their older son, Major Yancey Tyler McCollum, seated in front of them.
Another captured Parker holding the sleeping newborn while Hallie Ray kept Major on her lap. Additional photographs showed the curious toddler watching his younger brother, crawling closer to him and leaning in for a better look.
Hallie Ray also appeared holding both sons while kissing Major. The family’s announcement provided the first public glimpse of Rocker and confirmed his full name.
Choosing Another Strong Name Took Time
Rocker’s distinctive name follows the couple’s decision to call their first son Major Yancey Tyler. Before the second birth, Parker admitted that choosing another name had led to playful but occasionally heated discussions at home.
“We get some pretty funny heated arguments over it,” he said in a May interview. “Every now and then we’re like, all right, we have time. Let’s not do this today.”
Parker explained that finding a strong name mattered because he viewed his sons as the eventual heirs to what he builds throughout his life and career.
“These are my boys,” he said. “They’re going to take over everything that I build in this life. I’ll leave it to them. So names got to be good. They’ve got to have strong names.”
Parker Postponed Shows to Be Home for the Birth
One day before Rocker arrived, Parker told fans that he needed to postpone scheduled concerts in Kansas City and Omaha. He performed at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on July 29 and then traveled home to be with Hallie Ray.
“Once I step off the stage at Red Rocks, I’m headed straight home to be with the family,” he wrote. “Hate having to make that call, but family comes first.”
The Omaha performance was moved to September 10, while the Kansas City show was rescheduled for September 12. Parker said previously purchased tickets would be honored on the new dates.
