Blueface and Chrisean Rock’s livestreamed traffic stop in San Diego now has an explanation from police. A San Diego Police Department representative told TMZ that officers initially stopped the vehicle over equipment violations after Blueface’s Saturday night performance.

The encounter went beyond an ordinary traffic stop after officers learned that someone inside the SUV was on probation. Police said that person’s court-imposed conditions required officers to search the vehicle for contraband, although the department did not identify which occupant was on probation.

The search turned up no contraband. Police said the driver and passengers were ultimately released without being arrested, resolving one of the biggest unanswered questions after footage of the encounter circulated online.

Before the police explanation emerged, HotNewHipHop’s initial coverage noted that livestream footage showed the stop but did not establish why police had pulled over the vehicle. Rock’s young son, Chrisean Jr., was also in the SUV during the encounter.

The stop happened shortly after Blueface performed at Blu Temple/Blu Cabana in San Diego. TMZ reported that the group had just left the venue when police stopped their vehicle.

Footage from the livestream showed officers directing occupants out of the SUV. Blueface and others were briefly placed in handcuffs as the encounter unfolded, but the detention did not result in an arrest.

Rock remained with her son during the stop. No Jumper shared footage from the livestream as clips of the police encounter began spreading online. At the time, the reason for the stop had not yet been publicly confirmed.
