Reese Witherspoon brought Oliver Haarmann to the New York City premiere of Elle, the Prime Video prequel series set in the world of Legally Blonde.

The actress and producer attended the Tuesday, June 23, event with Haarmann after the two were first linked in 2024. People reported that the premiere marked a rare public date night for the couple.

Witherspoon leaned into the Elle Woods theme in a bright pink lace dress. Haarmann kept his look mostly classic in a navy suit and white shirt, adding a pink tie that nodded to her outfit and the franchise’s signature color.

The appearance came on a major professional night for Witherspoon, who played Elle Woods in the original Legally Blonde films and now serves as an executive producer on the new series.

InStyle reported that Witherspoon wore a custom pink lace dress by Monse. She styled the look with a blush clutch, nude Christian Louboutin heels and Tiffany & Co. earrings.

Haarmann wore a navy suit, white shirt and pink tie. The tie was the clearest connection between his outfit, Witherspoon’s dress and the Legally Blonde color palette.

The couple posed at the premiere and were also photographed holding hands during the night, according to People and InStyle.

A Source Said They Are “Very Much in Love”

A source told People that Witherspoon and Haarmann are “very much in love” and supportive of each other.

The insider said both prefer privacy and are not usually interested in big public displays. People also reported that the couple likes quiet nights at home and small dinner parties with friends, and that they have been meeting each other’s friends and families over the past few months.

Witherspoon and Haarmann were first linked in July 2024 after they were seen having dinner in New York City. People confirmed their relationship that September.

Haarmann Supported Witherspoon’s New Legally Blonde Chapter

Elle follows a younger version of Elle Woods before the events of Legally Blonde. Prime Video says the series is set during Elle’s high school years in 1995 and stars Lexi Minetree in the role Witherspoon made famous on film.

Witherspoon executive produces the series through Hello Sunshine. Prime Video says Elle premieres July 1 and has already been renewed for a second season.

Witherspoon’s son Deacon Phillippe also attended the premiere and posed with her at the event, according to People.

Haarmann Has Stayed Mostly Outside the Spotlight

People reported that Haarmann is a German financier, a co-founder of Searchlight Capital Partners and a minority owner of the New York Islanders.

He was previously married to financier Mala Gaonkar, with whom he shares two children. Witherspoon was previously married to Ryan Phillippe and Jim Toth, and shares three children across those marriages.
