Rihanna has hinted that she has at least 170 unreleased songs, using a box of Fenty Beauty products to describe the size of her music archive.
The singer, 38, made the comparison during an October 6 TikTok livestream for her cosmetics brand, PEOPLE reported.
Her last studio album, ANTI, arrived in January 2016. Fans have since referred to its anticipated follow-up as “R9,” shorthand for what would be her ninth studio album.
The broadcast promoted Fenty’s holiday beauty sets, including its Gloss Bomb Vault, according to Hollywood Unlocked.

Rihanna’s longtime business partner Jennifer Rosales asked how much unreleased music she was sitting on. Rihanna turned away and smirked before holding up the product box and counting across it, Just Jared reported.
“If there are 10 products in a vault, then I have at least 17 vaults,” she said. She gave no song titles or indication of which recordings might appear on the album, which remains without an announced release date.
Rihanna Has Reworked Her Approach to the Next Album
In a conversation with Mel Ottenberg published by Interview in April 2024, Rihanna explained that music usually determined her ideas for visuals. “Maybe the visual ideas are leading me to the songs that I need to make,” she said.
By her February 2025 Harper’s Bazaar interview, Rihanna said she had found a direction that felt right after years of recording and reconsidering concepts that no longer matched her growth.
“There’s no genre now,” she said when asked about expectations of a reggae album. She described wanting music that reflected her artistry rather than something built for radio. “I cannot put up anything mediocre,” she said.
A$AP Rocky Shared a Studio Update in August
“But yo, she in the studio right now,” A$AP Rocky said during an August appearance on BET’s The Jason Lee Show, according to Good Morning America. “Yeah, I said it.” He then addressed his partner directly: “Sorry babe.”
Rocky rejected Lee’s suggestion that the couple make a joint double album with both of them on every song. He described his own music as aimed at a niche audience, while Lee argued that Rihanna’s range made a collaboration possible.
Her Recent Releases Include Three Soundtrack Songs
Rihanna released “Lift Me Up” in October 2022 for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Written with Tems, Ludwig Göransson and Ryan Coogler, the song paid tribute to Chadwick Boseman, according to Disney’s D23.
She also contributed “Born Again” to the film, with that track arriving in November 2022. “Friend of Mine,” released in May 2025, followed for the Smurfs soundtrack.
Her live appearances have included the 2023 Super Bowl LVII halftime show and a guest spot at Jay-Z’s Yankee Stadium residency in July 2026. At the stadium, she performed “Run This Town” and “Bitch Better Have My Money,” SPIN reported.
