Robert Pattinson has addressed the interruption to The Batman Part II, offering a brief update after director Matt Reeves stepped away from production.

The 40-year-old actor was speaking to Official Pop Drop at the BFI London Film Festival while promoting Primetime, director Lance Oppenheim’s drama about television presenter Chris Hansen.

His comments were reported Oct. 12 by Variety India. He did not provide a date for filming to resume.

Pattinson is reprising Bruce Wayne in the follow-up to 2022’s The Batman. The sequel had been filming in London since June before work stopped.

Pattinson Says the Team Will “Figure It All Out”

“Yeah, we’re pausing for a little bit, and then we’re going to figure it all out,” Pattinson said when asked about the sequel.

Warner Bros. and DC Studios announced the interruption on Oct. 5, saying Reeves was attending to a family matter. “Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon,” the companies said in a statement obtained by TheWrap.

A month earlier, Pattinson had expected the shoot to occupy the rest of his year. In a September interview with GQ, he said he would remain in London through December and described the physical demands of returning to action scenes at 40.

He was enjoying the work despite finding the fighting harder than before. “It’s got a really, really fun cast, but it’s a marathon,” Pattinson said at the time.

He Called the Script “Extraordinary” Before Filming Began

At the March premiere of The Drama, which stars Pattinson and Zendaya, he told Deadline that Reeves’ screenplay had surprised him. “The script is extraordinary,” he said, describing a sequel that would differ considerably from the first film, according to Film-News.

“It’s going to be interesting seeing it come out. It’s taking some big swings,” Pattinson added.

Reeves had described the precautions surrounding the screenplay during a September 2025 interview with Variety at the Emmys. He said he was proud of the script he had written with Mattson Tomlin and had begun sharing it with Pattinson.

The actor was in New York, so the filmmakers sent the screenplay in a pouch secured with a combination lock. Reeves said Pattinson was allowed to keep it after reading, with the pages remaining in the locked pouch.

Johansson and Stan Join Several Returning Cast Members

Andy Serkis returns as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell reprises Oswald Cobb and Jeffrey Wright is back as Jim Gordon. Jayme Lawson and Gil Perez-Abraham, both of whom appeared in the first movie, are also returning, TheWrap reported.

New additions include Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, Charles Dance and Sebastian Koch. Farrell’s Penguin has also led his own HBO series since the original film.

Warner Bros. had already moved the sequel from its October 2027 release slot before the production pause. In July, Reeves shared camera-test footage showing Pattinson standing in the rain in Batman’s suit and turning toward the camera, The Independent reported.
