Rod Stewart is stepping away from the stage after undergoing a heart procedure. The 81-year-old singer has canceled the remaining dates of his current tour while following doctors’ orders to recover.
Stewart successfully underwent a routine coronary stent procedure following further medical evaluation, according to his representative. As Entertainment Weekly reported, his doctors are pleased with his progress, and he has already returned to his normal daily activities.
The singer will nevertheless spend the next four weeks recuperating and rebuilding his strength before returning to the stage. Stewart said he is “already feeling better and very much on the mend” and thanked the doctors, nurses and others who cared for him.
Stewart postponed an August 9th concert in Cincinnati because of what was initially described as an unforeseen but minor medical procedure, then canceled his August 11th Cleveland performance before the full health update was released.

Stewart’s representative told PEOPLE that the coronary stent procedure was successful and that doctors are satisfied with his recovery.
“I’m already feeling better and very much on the mend,” Stewart said. He also thanked the doctors, nurses and everyone who had taken care of him.
Stewart said he was deeply disappointed to miss the shows and apologized to fans who had planned to attend. He added that he was looking forward to getting back onstage and performing again soon.
Six Las Vegas Shows Were Among the Affected Dates
The interruption affects more than individual tour stops. Stewart had been scheduled to return to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for six additional performances of The Encore Shows between August 18th and 29th. The original Caesars Entertainment announcement listed shows for August 18th, 20th, 22nd, 25th, 27th and 29th.
Those performances were part of Stewart’s continuing relationship with the Las Vegas venue after his original 13-year Rod Stewart: The Hits residency concluded in 2024 following 200 performances. He returned to The Colosseum in 2025 with The Encore Shows.
Stewart also had other North American performances on his schedule, along with upcoming dates in Mexico. His representative said information concerning affected performances would be communicated by the respective promoters and venues.
The Health Update Followed a Last-Minute Cincinnati Postponement
Fans first learned something was wrong on August 9th, when Stewart’s Cincinnati performance at Riverbend Music Center was postponed shortly before showtime. At that stage, the venue described the issue only as “an unforeseen but minor medical procedure that required prompt attention” and said Stewart was expected to make a quick recovery.
The Cincinnati concert was initially expected to be rescheduled, but Riverbend has since listed the performance as canceled following Stewart’s broader health announcement. Stewart had also canceled his August 11th show at Rocket Arena in Cleveland.
