Ryan Reynolds stayed connected with his family while secretly exploring San Diego Comic-Con dressed as a denim-clad Deadpool.
Blake Lively shared a screenshot from a July 26 FaceTime call involving Reynolds and their 3-year-old son, Olin. The image offered a rare glimpse of the couple’s youngest child, although Lively continued protecting his privacy by covering his face with a bear emoji.
Olin was reading a Captain America book when Reynolds called from the convention, still wearing part of the costume that had allowed him to walk among fans without being recognized.
Reynolds later carried the disguise into Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation, where he interrupted an Avengers: Doomsday panel and jokingly attempted to secure Deadpool a role in the completed movie.
Olin Was Reading About Captain America When Reynolds Called
The screenshot showed Lively resting beside Olin, who wore green striped pajamas while looking at a Captain America book. Lively appeared in a red, white and blue striped top as she held the phone during the call.
Reynolds smiled from the screen with his Deadpool mask removed. He was wearing glasses and could still be seen in part of the denim costume he had worn around Comic-Con. “When you’re reading a Captain America book and you get interrupted by a FaceTime from Dad,” Lively wrote over the image, according to E! News.
The couple shares daughters James, Inez and Betty in addition to Olin. Reynolds announced their youngest child’s name at the July 2024 premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine and confirmed later that month that Olin is a boy.
Although the FaceTime screenshot showed Olin beside his mother, Lively placed an emoji over his face before sharing it through Instagram Stories. She and Reynolds occasionally post family moments or speak about their children in interviews, but they generally avoid sharing clear, identifiable photographs of them online.
Reynolds Walked the Convention Floor in Disguise

Before entering Hall H, Reynolds explored the Comic-Con floor in a head-to-toe denim version of Deadpool’s costume known as Jeanpool. His mask allowed him to pose with fans and other cosplayers without revealing his identity.
A video shared by Reynolds showed him encountering people dressed as Deadpool, Wolverine, Doctor Doom, She-Hulk and characters from other franchises. He also posed with fans who apparently did not realize they had met the actor behind Wade Wilson.
“The fans got Deadpool off the ground so many years ago,” Reynolds wrote, according to Entertainment Weekly. He said he felt fortunate to spend time with the people whose enthusiasm had supported the character. “No handlers, no security, no ropes. WHAT A GIFT,” he added. “Thanks to everyone I met, who aren’t only cosplaying but world-building.”
He Tried to Talk His Way Into ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Reynolds eventually appeared during Marvel Studios’ July 25 Hall H presentation and posed as a fan asking the Avengers: Doomsday cast a question. “This seems like an awfully expensive way to announce a film,” he said. “When do you start filming?”
Robert Downey Jr., who plays Doctor Doom, replied that production was already complete. “It’s in the can, bro,” he told Reynolds. “Look around you. Did you bump your head?”
Reynolds then asked whether there would be additional photography, budget overages or possible last-minute additions before abandoning his apparent attempt to join the cast. Marvel has not confirmed Deadpool for Avengers: Doomsday.
