Selena Gomez brought red Prada and a personal message to her fourth annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit on Wednesday, October 14.
The 34-year-old singer and actress hosted the Los Angeles fundraiser at the Hollywood Palladium, gathering support for organizations that expand young people’s access to mental health services and education.
For anyone who feels unworthy of asking for help, Gomez had two words: “You’re enough,” she told PEOPLE.
The evening was billed as A Night of Radiance & Reflection.
Red Prada on the Carpet, Crystal Fringe Inside
Her arrival ensemble featured a strapless neckline, red embellishments and a sculptural waist resembling flower petals. Matching satin pumps completed the look, which she wore with sleek, center-parted hair and sparkling jewelry on the pink carpet.
For her hosting duties, Gomez changed into a neutral-toned Prada column dress decorated with multicolored crystals, sequins and silver fringe. Red Carpet Fashion Awards documented the second outfit and credited Erin Walsh with styling her looks.
Katy Perry and Martin Short Join the Guest List
Guests included Katy Perry and Gomez’s Only Murders in the Building costar Martin Short. America Ferrera, Shay Mitchell, Mara Wilson, Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles and Dancing with the Stars professional Witney Carson were also among the guests.
Sean Hayes served as emcee. Ahead of the benefit, organizers announced Leon Bridges and Bella Kay as its musical guests, with Gomez thanking both artists for supporting the cause.
The cocktail-style fundraiser also included an auction of exclusive items and experiences. According to the event website, all auction contributions support the fund.
The Fund Has Raised More Than $30 Million Since 2020
Rare Beauty’s October 8 announcement put the fund’s cumulative fundraising above $30 million. Its 30 nonprofit partners operate across five continents and collectively reach an estimated 3.5 million young people annually. Gomez launched the initiative alongside her cosmetics company in 2020, setting a goal of mobilizing $100 million over ten years.
One percent of all Rare Beauty sales goes to the fund. Donations from individuals, foundations and corporate partners provide additional funding. Last year’s benefit raised more than $2 million.
Gomez told Extra that the commitment existed before Rare Beauty sold its first product. She said the need for accessible support spans generations, from her own millennial peers to her younger sister’s age group.
Seeing the Programs Firsthand Makes Gomez Proud
Asked about the work’s significance, Gomez recalled visiting a center where young people could spend time together and find support. “It’s the most incredibly proud thing that I could ever just claim,” she told PEOPLE.
In her conversation with Extra’s Terri Seymour, Gomez also discussed the gap between polished public images and someone’s emotional life. Photographs can make things appear brighter than they feel, she explained.
She said she hopes the community around Rare gives people a place where they feel safe and know whom they can turn to when they are struggling.
She and Benny Blanco Celebrated Their Anniversary in Pajamas
Gomez also credited husband Benny Blanco with being someone she can call when she needs support. She described feeling fortunate to have family and friends willing to listen to whatever is on her mind.
The 38-year-old music producer was part of the benefit’s inaugural host committee, which also included Becky G, author and producer Raquelle Stevens, and chef and actor Matty Matheson. Gomez and Blanco celebrated their first wedding anniversary on September 27.
Asked how they marked the occasion, Gomez told Seymour they ate a piece of wedding cake and watched their wedding footage in their pajamas. “We’re so cheesy,” Gomez joked.
