Snoop Dogg is offering one person $30,000 to spend three months tasting ice cream, tracking dessert trends and helping his Dr. Bombay brand decide what flavor could come next.

The rapper launched the worldwide search for an International Ice Cream Taster on Aug. 27. The successful applicant will receive $10,000 per month under a three-month independent-contractor agreement, with Dr. Bombay handling hiring and payments through global workforce platform Deel.

Candidates can apply from anywhere in the world. Although the job is described as remote, the mission goes well beyond eating ice cream at home. Dr. Bombay wants its taster exploring frozen desserts, different cultures, unusual flavor combinations and emerging food trends, then reporting those discoveries back to the brand.

A culinary degree is not required, and the company is actively encouraging people from unconventional professional backgrounds to apply. The non-negotiables are simpler. Applicants must speak English, have a valid passport and be available for the full three-month engagement.

Snoop Dogg Wants Someone to ‘Taste. Travel. Discover. Report.’

“Hold on now! I’m hiring an international ice cream taster,” Snoop said in his video announcing the position, confirming the $10,000 monthly pay and inviting applicants from outside the United States to put themselves forward.

Snoop explained that Deel would take care of the international hiring logistics. “I love the paper, but not the paperwork,” he joked before directing potential candidates to the application site.

The formal Dr. Bombay job listing reduces the mission to four commands: “Taste. Travel. Discover. Report.” The taster will investigate frozen desserts and flavor combinations across different cities and cultures, monitor viral and emerging food trends and report their findings to the Dr. Bombay team.

The job also involves creating social-first content and helping develop ideas for future flavors, campaigns and brand experiences. In other words, Dr. Bombay is looking for more than somebody capable of deciding whether a scoop tastes good.

The Winning Applicant Does Not Need to Be a Food Critic

Dr. Bombay is specifically avoiding what it calls an “old-school, stuffy food critic.” Its ideal candidate is curious about food, plugged into culture, adventurous enough to try unfamiliar combinations and capable of spotting something interesting before everybody else starts posting about it.

Creators, food enthusiasts, marketers, students, entrepreneurs, journalists and chefs are all explicitly encouraged to apply, along with candidates from unconventional professional backgrounds. Additional languages are considered an advantage, as are an instinct for social content and an interest in entrepreneurship or brand building.

The mandatory requirements are considerably shorter. Applicants must speak English, hold a valid passport and be available for three months. Reporting on the role also specifies that candidates should be comfortable evaluating the taste, aroma and texture of dairy-based ice cream.

The selected taster will work with the Dr. Bombay team on discoveries and possible new products. Deel executives have also said Snoop’s team will review finalists and that Snoop himself is expected to call the person ultimately chosen for the role.

The Pay Is $30,000 in Total

The eye-catching $10,000 figure is a monthly payment, but the advertised engagement lasts for only three months. The official application page and job listing describe a $10,000 monthly payment, while the listing explicitly places the total contract value at $30,000.

The arrangement is classified as an independent-contractor engagement. According to the listing, the successful applicant will be hired and paid by Dr. Bombay through Deel and can receive the money into a local bank account in their local currency.

The ice cream business itself has roots in Snoop’s family history. Dr. Bombay says his father grew up on a Mississippi dairy farm where ice cream was made by hand, while Snoop later built his own family memories around taking his son Cordell Broadus for ice cream after practices.

Dr. Bombay Ice Cream entered U.S. freezer aisles in July 2023, initially rolling out through 3,500 Walmart stores. The brand has since expanded its distribution while continuing to develop flavors that mix conventional ice cream with sherbet, fruit and other less traditional combinations.

Applications Are Still Open

Applicants can submit their information through Deel’s Dr. Bombay application page. Interest has already been substantial. Deel temporarily displayed a message saying the application site was having a “meltdown” because of the volume of submissions, while assuring potential candidates that the opportunity remained available.

The hiring process may include interviews, role-related assessments and AI-assisted candidate evaluation. Deel says human oversight is maintained throughout the process, final hiring decisions are made by people and applicants’ personal information is not used to train AI models.

Candidates who submit videos, social-media links or other application material also grant Dr. Bombay and Deel a non-exclusive worldwide license to review and potentially feature selected submissions on official campaign channels. Applicants remain responsible for ensuring their material does not contain unauthorized third-party content or people who have not agreed to appear.

As of Sept. 4, the official application page remains live and Deel is still telling candidates that applications are open. Anyone interested in spending three months searching for Dr. Bombay’s next flavor therefore still has a chance to make ice cream tasting a $30,000 assignment.
