Suki Waterhouse has spent eight years with Robert Pattinson without watching the movie franchise that turned him into an international star.
Pattinson played vampire Edward Cullen in the original 2008 film and its four sequels, which were released through 2012.
During an appearance on In Your Dreams With Owen Thiele, the singer and actress revealed that she has never seen any of the five Twilight films.
Waterhouse said she intends to correct that eventually, but she has no interest in experiencing the vampire saga alone.
Waterhouse Could Not Immediately Choose Between Edward and Jacob
Host Owen Thiele introduced the subject by asking Waterhouse whether she supported Team Edward or Team Jacob. “I’ve never seen it,” she responded. After Thiele expressed disbelief, Waterhouse confirmed that she had not watched the films but promised that she would “one day.”
She then jokingly chose Team Edward, briefly pausing to make sure she had correctly remembered the name of Pattinson’s character. “I was like, wait, I can’t get that wrong,” she said with a laugh. According to Entertainment Weekly, Waterhouse and Pattinson have been together since 2018.
She Wants Commentary During Her First Viewing
Waterhouse explained that she is waiting for an opportunity to watch the movies in bed with someone willing to talk throughout them. Thiele volunteered to join her but warned that his constant commentary might become irritating. Waterhouse said that was exactly what she wanted.
“I want commentary,” she told him. “I don’t really want to sit and watch.” She said she would watch the series with either Thiele or Pattinson but would not sit through it alone.
“We’d need commentary,” Waterhouse said. “I’ll watch it with him, or I’ll watch it with you, but I’m not gonna sit and watch the movie by myself.”
Pattinson Takes Her Audition Tapes Very Seriously
Waterhouse also discussed how Pattinson helps her record self-tapes for acting auditions. She said his assistance is often valuable, although he sometimes approaches a straightforward audition as though he were directing a larger film production.
“Sometimes he really wants to get, like, cinematography,” she said, describing his desire to move the camera throughout their home rather than record her against a simple background.
For one audition, Pattinson planned an elaborate shot that began with Waterhouse sitting in a bathroom with her trousers around her ankles. She was then supposed to pull them up as the camera moved toward a mirror without showing her getting dressed.
Waterhouse decided that the sequence was too ambitious for the self-tape and declined to submit it. She joked that she might instead edit the footage, add one of her songs and post it to Instagram. “He got so into it,” she said. “It’s insane. He’s a director.”
