Taylor Lautner and his wife, Tay Lautner, have welcomed their first child, and the couple found a way to keep their famously shared name in the family.
The pair announced Sept. 23 that their daughter, Lennon Taylor Lautner, had been born one week earlier. “One week loving our sweet little Lenny,” they wrote in a joint Instagram post, revealing her Sept. 16 birth date.
The first photograph showed Lennon in a light-colored onesie on a pink blanket beside a stitched sign displaying her first and middle names. Her parents are already calling her Lenny.
Both Taylor and Tay are named Taylor Lautner, a coincidence they played with when announcing the pregnancy in March. “What’s better than two Taylor Lautners?” they asked at the time, and their daughter’s middle name now carries Taylor into another generation.

Taylor and Tay kept their daughter’s first week private before introducing her publicly on Sept. 23. Their announcement included no detailed birth story, instead focusing on Lennon’s name, nickname and arrival date.
The couple had spent much of the summer preparing for their first child. Friends celebrated Tay with a pink-themed baby shower in August, which she said was organized by Jaclyn Hill, and the expectant mother wrote that their daughter was already surrounded by people who loved her.
Shortly before Lennon’s birth, Tay also shared a look inside the completed nursery. The room featured colorful and floral details, while Taylor described it as his favorite room in their home.
The couple announced Tay’s pregnancy on March 26 with outdoor sonogram photographs, nearly four years after their November 2022 wedding.
Taylor Had Long Hoped to Become a Girl Dad

The Lautners learned they were expecting a daughter during a gender reveal shared in June. Video showed the couple sitting together in front of a laptop before “GIRL” appeared on the screen and they immediately began celebrating.
Taylor later said becoming a girl dad had been one of his longtime hopes. He emphasized that a healthy baby was what mattered most, but admitted he had quietly dreamed of having a daughter, according to People.
Tay had already seen qualities in her husband that made her confident about parenthood. During her pregnancy, she spoke about watching him interact with children and said his kindness and attentiveness made it easy for her to picture him as a father.
Taylor also became one of Tay’s main sources of support while she was expecting. She told E! News that he handled errands, food requests and frequent water refills, describing him as her “saving grace” throughout the pregnancy.
Tay Was Nervous About Sharing Such a Personal Chapter Online
Tay discussed some of that hesitation on The Squeeze, the podcast she hosts with her husband, explaining that pregnancy felt much more personal than the parts of their lives they normally shared publicly.
The attention surrounding Taylor’s career also made her cautious about how much of the experience she wanted to put online. Even after announcing the pregnancy, the couple continued choosing which milestones to share, including the gender reveal, baby shower and nursery.
Their Sept. 23 announcement followed the same approach, giving followers the first photograph of Lennon while revealing only a few details about her arrival.
