The Gentlemen viewers are racing through the show’s second season and pleading with Netflix to keep Guy Ritchie’s crime comedy alive. The streamer has already granted that wish.
Recent reactions include viewers saying they finished both seasons within days and asking Netflix not to cancel the series. One fan called Season 2 “pure artistry and genius” while urging the streamer to continue it, according to The Express via AOL.
Netflix has already confirmed a third season, with Ritchie returning for another eight episodes. The decision was made before Season 2 premiered on Sept. 3, meaning the show’s future was secured before its latest episodes generated a new wave of audience attention.
Those episodes have since delivered strong numbers. Season 2 opened with 6.7 million views during its first four days of availability before climbing to No. 1 on Netflix’s global English-language TV chart the following week, while renewed interest also pushed Season 1 back into the Top 10.
Season 2 Climbed From No. 3 to No. 1
Season 2 entered Netflix’s global English TV ranking at No. 3 with 6.7 million views during the week of Aug. 31 through Sept. 6. Season 1 returned at No. 5 with another 3.2 million views, according to Netflix.
The following week brought an even larger audience. Season 2 moved to No. 1 with 9.9 million views and 73.4 million hours watched, while the first season rose to No. 3 with 5.5 million views.
The resurgence means both seasons were simultaneously among Netflix’s three most-watched English-language shows worldwide during the week of Sept. 7 through Sept. 13.
The renewed interest follows the return of Theo James as Eddie Horniman and Kaya Scodelario as Susie Glass. Season 2 takes their operation beyond the English estate that anchored the first season, expanding the story into Italy while drawing Eddie further into the criminal world he initially entered reluctantly.
Netflix Ordered Season 3 Before Season 2 Even Premiered
Netflix announced the renewal alongside the Season 2 trailer in August, before audiences had seen the latest episodes. Variety reported that the third season will contain eight episodes and was already in pre-production when the renewal became public.
“The ambition of The Gentlemen has accelerated, the world has expanded and the consequences carry weight,” Ritchie said when the new season was announced. “A third season felt inevitable, and I’m looking forward to pushing the boundaries of it further.”
At the time, scripts had not yet been finalized and no new casting had been confirmed. Netflix’s subsequent Season 3 update has not announced a premiere date.
The next chapter will follow a second season that pushed Eddie far beyond the reluctant aristocrat introduced in 2024. His attempts to expand the criminal business took him into Italian operations and parliamentary politics while putting increasing pressure on his relationships with Susie, Bobby Glass and his own family.
The Wait for Season 3 May Be Shorter
The first two seasons arrived more than two years apart. The Gentlemen premiered in March 2024, while its second season did not reach Netflix until Sept. 3, 2026.
Theo James indicated that production could move more quickly this time. Asked by Radio Times whether he had discussed the next chapter with Ritchie, James said the creative team already knows the broad direction of the characters.
“We have, yes, but like this show, the DNA is still being built as we speak, even though we’re going to shoot it pretty soon,” James said. “But yeah, we know the trajectory that we’re going to take our characters.”
Netflix has not announced when filming will begin or provided a release window for Season 3. Both existing seasons are currently streaming in full.
