Donald Trump’s New Year’s Eve party at Mar-a-Lago had everything: a $2.75 million Jesus painting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Rudy Giuliani in a white dinner jacket, Vanilla Ice performing his 1990 hit alongside a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, $1,450 tickets, and a “peace on earth” resolution from the president himself.
The internet noticed something else.
A post on Threads by user @vincedmonroy started making the rounds Wednesday night. It featured photos of Trump onstage — one mid-speech, another zoomed in on his feet. The caption: “I’ve never seen shoes work harder than this.”

Within hours, the post had over a million views. The replies came fast.
“Even his feet can’t stand him,” wrote @golden4eternity80. “Every pun intended.”
“Even his ankles are rolling over in disgust,” added @margres242.
One user compared the shoes to Tow Mater from Pixar’s Cars, posting a side-by-side image. Another simply called him “a sleazy nightclub singer.”
This isn’t the first time Trump’s footwear has drawn attention. Back in October, photos of his dress shoes went viral on Threads after users noticed they looked warped and tilted, buckling outward at the sides. Some zoomed in on images from his meeting with King Charles III and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, where the shape of his shoes stood in sharp contrast to those around him.
The White House has acknowledged that Trump has chronic venous insufficiency — a condition that affects blood flow in the legs and is more common in older adults. Beyond that, officials have kept details minimal.
None of which stopped the internet from doing what it does best: zooming in, circling things, and making jokes.
Meanwhile, back at the party, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem — nicknamed “ICE Barbie” for her habit of showing up to immigration raids in full glam — was dancing to “Ice Ice Baby” alongside immigration czar Stephen Miller. The irony was not lost on the internet.
Speed painter Vanessa Horabuena was creating a portrait of Jesus Christ while “Hallelujah” played. Trump auctioned it off to a woman in a top hat for $2.75 million. Half went to St. Jude’s, half to the local sheriff’s department.
“These people are loaded with cash, just so you know,” Trump told the artist.
The shoes, as far as we know, held up fine.
