Zahara Jolie-Pitt has filed to legally remove “Pitt” from her last name.

The 21-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt is asking to be legally known as Zahara Marley Jolie, according to People.

E! News reported that Zahara filed the petition in Los Angeles Superior Court on June 4. The request still needs court approval before the name change becomes final.

The filing comes after several public name changes or professional-name choices among Jolie and Pitt’s children, including Shiloh Jolie, Maddox Jolie, and Vivienne Jolie.

People reported that Zahara’s Spelman College commencement program listed her as Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt, but her name was read aloud as Zahara Marley Jolie when she crossed the stage in May. InStyle reported that she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.

Zahara had also used the shorter name before graduation. People reported that she introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie in a 2023 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. video shared by Essence.

The legal petition now moves that public name use into court. InStyle reported that a hearing on Zahara’s request is scheduled for Sept. 28.

Shiloh and Maddox Also Filed to Remove Pitt

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt filed to remove “Pitt” from her last name after turning 18 in 2024. People reported that the petition was later granted, making her legal name Shiloh Jolie.

Maddox Jolie-Pitt also filed to remove “Pitt” from his last name. People reported in May that Maddox asked to be legally known as Maddox Chivan Jolie.

Entertainment Weekly reported that Maddox had already used Maddox Jolie professionally in the credits for Jolie’s 2025 film Couture, where he worked as an assistant director. People previously noted that he was credited as Maddox Jolie-Pitt on Jolie’s film Maria.

Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, one of Jolie and Pitt’s 17-year-old twins, was credited as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for The Outsiders in 2024. Vivienne worked as an assistant on the Broadway musical with her mother.

That credit was a professional name use, not a confirmed legal change. People reported that it was unclear whether Vivienne had legally changed her name.

Jolie and Pitt share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne. Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, and People reported that the former couple finalized their divorce in December 2024.
