A Florida daughter was trying to sell properties belonging to her elderly mother when a realtor reportedly found something wrong: one of the properties had already been sold.
According to WMBB, the daughter contacted the Bay County Sheriff’s Office on May 26 after learning that the property had been sold on May 5 to a company called WAAC LLC.
The price listed in the affidavit was the part that raised the biggest red flag. WMBB reported that the properties were sold for only $1.
Wayne Barrington Clarke Was Booked in Bay County
Wayne Barrington Clarke was booked in Bay County on June 3, 2026.
The booking record lists two charges: exploitation of an elderly person involving $50,000 or more, and grand theft of $20,000 or more but less than $100,000.
The record also lists a $100,000 bond on the exploitation charge and a $50,000 bond on the grand theft charge.
The Case Is Not a Conviction
The charges against Clarke are allegations. A booking record shows an arrest and listed charges, not a finding of guilt.
WMBB’s report did not say whether the property transfer has been reversed, whether the elderly woman’s assets have been recovered, or whether a separate civil case has been filed over the sale.
