Adele is reportedly writing and recording in London after telling fans she wanted a long break from music.
The singer is said to have flown from Los Angeles to the U.K. and spent time at Church Studios in Crouch End, North London, according to The Sun.
Contactmusic also reported that Adele has been working at the studio, which is owned by producer Paul Epworth and was used for parts of her 2015 album 25.
Adele Is Reportedly Writing at Church Studios
The Sun reported that Adele has been spending at least two weeks in London writing and recording at Church Studios. Epworth, who co-wrote and produced her James Bond theme “Skyfall,” is based at the North London studio.
A source told the outlet that Adele had been “in and out of sessions” and was keeping a low profile while working in the city. The same source said Church Studios made sense because Adele feels safe there and because Epworth works from the building.
Church Studios says its history runs from Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams” to Adele’s 25, and The Sun noted that artists including Coldplay, Paul McCartney, Oasis, Mick Jagger, Florence + The Machine, Culture Club, The Streets, Tom Jones and Jack Peñate have worked there.
The Sessions Have Started Collaboration Speculation
The reported sessions have also stirred questions because other artists were seen around the same studio. The Sun reported that Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon was photographed outside Church Studios last Wednesday.
Gracie Abrams was also spotted filming a music video outside the building, according to The Sun and Contactmusic. That sighting adds attention around the studio, but it is not proof that Abrams is connected to Adele’s reported sessions.
The Report Follows Adele’s ‘Big Break’ Comments

In July 2024, Adele told German broadcaster ZDF that she had “no plans for new music at all” and wanted a “big break” after her run of shows, according to Sky News.
“My tank is quite empty at the minute,” she said at the time. “I don’t have any plans for new music at all. I want a big break after all this, and I think I want to do other creative things just for a little while.”
Adele wrapped her Weekends With Adele Las Vegas residency in November 2024. People reported that she became emotional during the final show, thanked her son Angelo and partner Rich Paul, and said she did not know when she would perform again.
London Could Shape the Sound of Her Next Era
The Sun framed the reported studio return as a possible attempt to reconnect with Adele’s London roots. A second source told the outlet that people close to her had encouraged her to draw from where she grew up.
Adele was born in Tottenham and later lived in Brixton and West Norwood. Her 2015 album 25 included “River Lea,” a song named after the river associated with the area where she grew up.
The source also claimed Adele’s last album, 30, felt more tied to Hollywood and her life in Los Angeles. That is an insider’s interpretation, not Adele’s own explanation of any new music.
