Amanda Seyfried described her life as “interesting” during a brief red-carpet interview, offering a philosophical response about accepting the circumstances around her.
The 40-year-old actress spoke with The Hollywood Reporter at the sixth annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 17.
When the interviewer brought up how difficult interviews were at the moment, Seyfried replied, “for a good reason.” She did not elaborate on what that reason was.
Her immediate plans were simpler. After attending the gala, she expected to return home the following day, describing both commitments as places she was meant to be.

Speaking in The Hollywood Reporter’s interview, Seyfried offered a broad reflection on the events and relationships around her. “I think everything that’s happening is meant to happen,” she said. She extended that thought to the people in her life, saying she believed they were meant to be there.
When the reporter asked what she would enjoy discussing, Seyfried supplied a list: emus, Halloween, apple pie, olives and especially good hard ciders.
Animals are already a familiar part of her daily routine. A Vanity Fair interview published before this year’s Met Gala described her home in upstate New York, where she gardens and cares for animals. The property includes goats, chickens and horses.
That interview also touched on how her surroundings influence her approach to clothing. Seyfried said she values practicality, explaining that an outfit needs to be functional to appeal to her.
Seyfried Returns to Elizabeth Holmes in You Can See Everything
Seyfried’s latest screen appearance is in You Can See Everything, directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim. A24 released the two-hour, 55-minute documentary in theaters on October 16.
The film begins 34 days before Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes reports to prison. Holmes invites the filmmakers to document her life, and the project expands into a three-year examination of her story and the people helping shape it.
Seyfried previously portrayed Holmes in Hulu’s The Dropout, earning an Emmy in 2022. In the documentary, Fielder shows her footage of Holmes watching that performance before asking the actress to recreate moments the filmmakers could not capture. Vanity Fair’s coverage of the film describes those reenactments as part of a larger role for Seyfried.
She Recently Explained Why She Turned Down a TV Role
Earlier this month, Seyfried discussed a specific professional decision during an October 4 conversation with Alec Baldwin at the Hamptons International Film Festival.
She said she had declined an unnamed television project because it required frequent sex scenes, according to PEOPLE. She explained that her comfort with filming intimate scenes had changed over time.
“I’m not into it right now,” she said, while allowing that she might feel differently if the opportunity returned later.

For the evening, Seyfried wore a strapless navy Prada gown with a fitted bodice and pleated panels that extended from the sides of the skirt. She left her blond hair loose and added Tiffany & Co. jewelry, as documented in W’s red-carpet gallery.
The red carpet also drew Sabrina Carpenter, Kendall Jenner and Pamela Anderson. The gala honored Charlize Theron with the Icon Award, Colman Domingo with the Vantage Award and John Carpenter with the Luminary Award.
Conan O’Brien introduced Taylor Swift’s closing performance. According to Vogue’s account of the evening, the event raised more than $14 million for the museum’s exhibitions, educational initiatives and public programs.
