Andrew Garfield remains open to playing Spider-Man again, but another appearance would have to give him a reason to return beyond simply putting Peter Parker back on screen.
“Never say never. I mean, yeah, sure,” Garfield told Metro Entertainment when asked whether he could see himself wearing the suit again. “There’s so much possibility, I guess. So, if it’s deemed a worthy story then, yeah, I’d be very curious to have a chat.”
His most recent turn as Peter came in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which brought his version of the character together with Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire seven years after The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ended his original two-film run.
Garfield Has Already Pitched a Spider-Man Road-Trip Movie
Andrew Garfield when asked if he’d return as Spider-Man in the MCU:

Garfield gave a much stranger description of the material that could interest him during an August interview with TheWrap. Rather than asking for another conventional superhero blockbuster, he said he would need the project to take Peter into territory audiences had not seen before.
“I would need it to be very, very odd,” Garfield said. “I would need it to be very strange, and I would need it to be completely unconventional.” He wanted a Spider-Man movie that felt “completely unexpected” and “very left field,” even suggesting that a road-trip story could provide the kind of genre change he had in mind.
Those comments followed a similar answer at the Middle East Film & Comic Con, where Garfield said he would “love to play the character again in some capacity” if the project offered something “unique and offbeat and surprising.” His interest has therefore been consistent, but so has the creative condition attached to it.
Garfield did not appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Tom Holland’s fourth solo Spider-Man film, which opened earlier this year. His absence left No Way Home as the only time his Peter has appeared outside the two Amazing Spider-Man movies.
Jamie Bell Nearly Became Spider-Man Instead of Garfield
Garfield recently revisited how he got the role while promoting The Uprising with Jamie Bell, one of the actors who competed against him to play Peter Parker. The pair discussed the casting process together during a Sept. 14 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, more than 15 years after Sony was deciding who would lead The Amazing Spider-Man. Bravo published the exchange as a show highlight.
Bell remembered attending a Los Angeles dinner while the decision was still being made. When a salt shaker started falling from the table, both actors instinctively reached for it, prompting the people around them to joke about their competing “Spidey senses.” Garfield laughed when Bell brought the memory back up and confirmed that he remembered it.
Bell had progressed far enough in the casting process to screen-test for director Marc Webb. He never wore the actual Spider-Man costume during that test, but he later described getting that far as “a great experience” and “a great opportunity,” according to PEOPLE.
More than a decade after losing the part, Bell had no complaint about the final choice. “They clearly chose the right guy,” he said of Garfield. “He’s a phenomenal actor.”
