Aubrey Plaza returned to the red carpet on Sept. 30, attending the New York premiere of Christopher Abbott’s new Netflix limited series East of Eden.
Just Jared reported that the event at The Plaza Hotel marked Plaza’s first public event since she and Abbott welcomed their first child, a daughter, during the final week of July.
Plaza, 42, wore a long black coat over a sheer black top and matching skirt for the premiere. Abbott, 40, was there to promote the seven-episode adaptation of John Steinbeck’s novel.
The appearance came nearly four months after Plaza and Abbott made their first official red-carpet appearance as a couple at the Tony Awards, when she was pregnant and he was nominated for his Broadway work.

Plaza and Abbott both walked the East of Eden premiere carpet but did not pose together for photographers.
Us Weekly reported that Abbott instead celebrated the premiere alongside cast members including Florence Pugh, Mike Faist and Joseph Zada. Plaza attended the same event in support of her partner.
A Page Six gallery photographed Abbott, Pugh, Faist and other members of the ensemble on the New York carpet, while event photography also captured Plaza arriving at The Plaza Hotel.
The Tony Awards Marked Their First Red Carpet as a Couple
Plaza and Abbott made their red-carpet debut as a couple at the Tony Awards on June 7 at Radio City Music Hall.
Abbott attended as a nominee for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play for portraying Biff Loman in the Broadway revival of Death of a Salesman. Plaza joined him in a black-and-white Chanel dress that showed her baby bump.
Their daughter arrived during the final week of July. Plaza was photographed carrying the newborn in New York on Aug. 9 after attending Abbott’s final performance in Death of a Salesman.
Plaza and Abbott First Worked Together Years Before Dating
Plaza and Abbott’s professional history predates their relationship. They worked together on the psychological drama Black Bear, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020.
They reunited several years later in the Off-Broadway production of John Patrick Shanley’s Danny and the Deep Blue Sea. The two-person play ran from October 2023 into January 2024.
Their relationship eventually became public after those collaborations, with their pregnancy confirmed in April 2026.
Abbott Plays Adam Trask in Netflix’s ‘East of Eden’
East of Eden stars Abbott as Adam Trask opposite Mike Faist as his brother Charles and Florence Pugh as Cathy Ames.
Netflix describes Zoe Kazan’s adaptation as a multigenerational story centered on Cathy and the Trask family, expanding beyond the portion of Steinbeck’s novel covered by the 1955 film.
The ensemble also includes Hoon Lee, Tracy Letts, Martha Plimpton, Ciarán Hinds, Joseph Zada and Joe Anders. All seven episodes began streaming on Netflix on Oct. 1.
