Bronchitis has interrupted Barry Manilow’s Las Vegas comeback, cutting one concert short and forcing the cancellation of the next.
The 83-year-old singer was performing at the International Theater inside Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, where he holds an ongoing residency.
He had completed his first concert back on Thursday, October 8, after roughly six weeks away, PEOPLE reported.
Westgate had announced additional residency dates for 2027 last month, with tickets already on sale.
Manilow’s Band Kept Playing After He Left the Stage
During the October 9 performance, Manilow sang “It’s a Miracle” and “I’m Your Man” before leaving the stage, according to Vital Vegas.
The outlet reported that he told the audience to “talk amongst yourselves” before stepping away. His band continued playing, but he did not return. An announcement over the theater’s public-address system then told concertgoers the show was over.
“After a triumphant welcome-back concert on Thursday, Barry got hit with bronchitis and had to cancel his Friday and Saturday shows,” representatives for Manilow and the resort told Variety.
PEOPLE reported that attendees later posted on social media about receiving Ticketmaster emails telling them they would receive refunds for the shortened performance.
His Return Followed a Break for Vocal Rest

At his Thursday concert, Manilow joked with fans who threw underwear onto the stage. He picked up a pair of boxers and teased the audience about sending them to the laundry, Page Six reported. “God, I feel like I’m a teenage idol again,” he told the crowd.
Before the hiatus, Manilow had cut his August 20 performance short about 40 minutes in. His August 21 and 22 shows were then canceled, with his team citing technical and vocal problems.
His husband and manager, Garry Kief, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the shortened August performance involved a malfunctioning media server and a backup that would not start. The equipment controlled the synchronization of audio, video clips and projections.
On August 25, Manilow announced a longer break after completing 29 shows in 68 days. “But it seems that we were pushing a little too hard,” he said in a statement published by the Review-Journal. Nine forthcoming Westgate performances were being rescheduled while he rested his voice.
Manilow Underwent Lung Cancer Surgery in December
Manilow was diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer in November 2025 and publicly disclosed it the following month. He underwent surgery in December to remove one of his left lung’s two lobes.
In a March interview with PEOPLE, he described spending seven days in intensive care after the operation. The magazine reported that he was cancer-free at the time. “I’m one of the lucky ones, I don’t have to have chemo, radiation and all that stuff,” he said.
Westgate Still Lists October 15 to 17 Performances
As of October 12, Westgate’s schedule continued to list October 15, 16 and 17 as Manilow’s next performances. His representatives had not confirmed a return date in the reports announcing the cancellations.
The venue also lists November 5 to 7 and November 12 to 14, followed by three December weekends: December 3 to 5, December 10 to 12 and December 17 to 19. The holiday dates are billed as A Very Barry Christmas.
