Brooklyn Beckham is leaning into the public conversation around his family rift in a new World Cup-themed DoorDash ad.

The 27-year-old appeared in a short teaser released Monday, sitting on a couch while a soccer match played in the background. “You’re probably wondering why I’m watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home,” he says in the clip, before laughing and adding, “It’s a long story.”

Brooklyn then tosses several World Cup tickets onto a coffee table next to a DoorDash bag. The spot ends with the words “It’s complicated. More soon” on the screen.

David Beckham is one of the most famous soccer players of his generation and played in three World Cups for England. Brooklyn’s choice to frame himself as watching from home, with tickets left unused, gave the ad an obvious celebrity-news hook.

The Ad Uses the Beckham Drama as the Setup

Extra reported that Brooklyn appeared to reference his “complicated” family dynamic in the DoorDash spot. Page Six also described the ad as a jab at David and Victoria Beckham, noting that Brooklyn posted it with the caption “Long story.”

The commercial does not name David, Victoria or any of Brooklyn’s siblings. It does not need to. The World Cup setting, the unused tickets and the “long story” line point directly at the family story that has followed him for months.

DoorDash’s ad works because it borrows from Brooklyn’s current public image. Instead of ignoring the feud coverage, the teaser turns it into the premise.

The Timing Made the Clip Louder

The ad arrived shortly after David received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles.

Victoria Beckham and the couple’s children Romeo, Cruz and Harper attended the ceremony, while Brooklyn was absent. TMZ reported that David posed with Victoria, Harper, Romeo, Cruz and longtime friend Tom Cruise during the event.

Extra reported that David avoided a direct question about the family drama at the ceremony, telling Variety, “That’s a private matter. That’s the one thing that I don’t want to talk about.”

In his speech, David still referred warmly to his children. Extra reported that he told them making them proud was his “greatest achievement.”

Brooklyn Has Already Spoken About the Rift

Brooklyn’s relationship with his parents has been under public scrutiny since January, when he released a lengthy statement on Instagram about the family conflict.

The Guardian reported that Brooklyn claimed his parents had controlled media narratives around the family and tried to damage his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham. In that statement, he said, “I do not want to reconcile with my family.”

David and Victoria have not responded with the same kind of public point-by-point statement.

Victoria later addressed the broader family situation without naming Brooklyn. Extra reported that she said she and David love their children and have always tried to protect them while raising a family in the public eye.
