Carrot Top has thanked supporters in his first personal message since his September hospitalization, confirming plans to return to his Las Vegas residency.
The 61-year-old comedian, whose real name is Scott Thompson, shared the update on Instagram on Saturday, October 17, after several weeks of recovery away from the stage.
He plans to perform at the Luxor Hotel & Casino on Monday, October 19, at 8 p.m. The date had already appeared on the venue’s calendar.
Thompson was hospitalized on September 18 following a reported suicide attempt at his Las Vegas home, according to police reports and court records reviewed by PEOPLE.

Alongside a photograph of himself performing, Thompson acknowledged that he had been unable to reply to everyone individually. “I’ve felt your love,” he wrote. The caption closed with an orange heart emoji.
Comedian Jay Mohr and actress Hannah Einbinder were among those responding in the comments. Mohr wrote, “LOVE LOVE LOVE,” while Einbinder added, “Love you Scott,” according to TheWrap.
His Representative Shared Updates While He Was in the Hospital
Thompson was “awake, breathing on his own and continuing to improve,” representative Jami Schlicher told Entertainment Weekly on September 20. She said he remained under close medical care, with family members and others close to him nearby.
Schlicher also described him sharing moments of humor with the medical staff. Supporters had sent accounts of how his comedy helped them through difficult periods, and those stories were being passed along to him in the hospital. His family continued to ask for privacy.
By September 25, a source close to Thompson told PEOPLE that he was home with his family and doing well.
Luxor and MGM Resorts also expressed support following the hospitalization, describing him as a valued member of their entertainment family and wishing him strength as he received care.

Thompson began headlining at Luxor in 2005. In November 2023, MGM Resorts announced that his contract had been extended through 2030.
Before joining Luxor, Thompson performed at Bally’s in 1995 and MGM Grand in 1996, according to the hotel’s anniversary announcement last year.
He appeared on Comic Strip Live in 1991 and made his Tonight Show debut the following year. MGM credits him with 31 appearances on the latter program, including Jay Leno’s final episode.
In the anniversary announcement, Thompson recalled starting with two trunks and a strobe light before expanding to a team traveling in an 18-wheeler with 35 trunks of props.
The act incorporates music, lighting and homemade inventions. Thompson has described finding ideas in subjects as varied as a news story or a song heard on the radio.
Luxor lists a regular Monday-through-Saturday schedule, with designated breaks throughout the remainder of the year. The performances take place in the property’s Atrium Showroom.
In an October 17 update to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Thompson’s publicity team said he was doing well and looking forward to making people laugh again.
The newspaper reported that the show’s format is expected to remain unchanged when performances resume, with veteran comedian Rob Sherwood opening for Thompson.
