The mother-son appearance fit the tone of the Armani Privé show, which focused on polished eveningwear and elegant tailoring. Reuters reported that the collection featured shimmering gowns, roomy suits, beaded blazers, velvet looks, muted leopard prints and deep-toned evening dresses at the Palazzo Armani in Paris.

The front row also included other familiar names, but Blanchett’s appearance stood out because she brought Ignatius into a setting where she is already closely associated with the house.

Reuters reported that The 2026 show it was presented under Silvana Armani’s womenswear creative direction after Giorgio Armani’s death in September 2025.

The Outing Was Rare, but Not Completely New

Some coverage framed Ignatius’ appearance as his first public outing in nearly a decade. PEOPLE reported in 2024 that Blanchett and Ignatius sat front row together at a Giorgio Armani Privé Haute Couture show in Paris.

At that 2024 show, the pair wore coordinating black-and-white looks. PEOPLE reported that Blanchett wore an all-black ensemble, while Ignatius opted for a cream-colored suit and silver necklaces.

Blanchett has long kept her children mostly outside the celebrity spotlight.

Ignatius Is Blanchett and Andrew Upton’s Youngest Son

Ignatius is Blanchett’s third child with her husband, playwright and director Andrew Upton. The couple also share sons Dashiell and Roman, as well as daughter Edith, whom they adopted in 2015.

PEOPLE previously reported that Blanchett once explained Ignatius’ name came from the Captain Underpants book series.

The actor has said her children are largely indifferent to her fame, a dynamic that helps explain why family sightings around major fashion and film events are still treated as unusual.
