Chappell Roan’s latest Instagram companion is small enough to perch on her baseball cap. The singer introduced followers to Dot, her pet gecko, with a selfie that gave the little reptile a prominent place above her head.
The 28-year-old Grammy winner shared the photographs on November 6, identifying Dot as a female Dalmatian crested gecko. She’s a year and a half old.
Roan kept her introduction brief. “Everybody meet my gecko Dot,” she wrote, adding the animal’s age and type before signing off with “Thank you xx.”
The singer has long described a quieter life away from performing. In a 2023 interview with Visit Springfield, she talked about sewing, crocheting and inviting friends over for craft nights and hot cocoa. Looking after animals has been another part of that life.

The carousel offers several views of Dot’s pale-yellow coloring and scattered dark spots. One photograph shows her inside her terrarium, while another features Swedish producer Elvira Anderfjärd holding her and looking at a phone in her other hand.
Followers gave the newcomer a welcome that drew on her owner’s music. “She’s like: hiii guuuuys it’s a femininomenon,” one person commented, referencing Roan’s song “Femininomenon,” according to PEOPLE.
Another admirer offered a family resemblance, writing that Dot was “gorgeous like her mama.” The comments turned a short pet announcement into an opportunity for fans to celebrate the singer’s newest Instagram guest.

In August 2024, Roan posted a collection of photographs with the caption “Me + holding animals.” The assortment included cats, dogs, a goat and a pig, giving followers several different animal encounters to scroll through.
The responses were similarly playful. As The Express Tribune reported at the time, one commenter compared her to Noah gathering animals onto the ark. Another likened the collection to Pokémon.
The post followed her Lollapalooza performance in Chicago during the summer her audience grew dramatically. Alongside the concert photographs and elaborate stage looks, her account had room for pictures of her cuddling animals.
Her Four Rescue Guinea Pigs Even Appeared in a Lyric Video
Roan’s history with small pets stretches back further. In a May 2020 Instagram post, she explained that she had adopted guinea pigs from Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue in 2018. She hoped caring for one would remind her of home and the guinea pig she had loved in fourth grade.
She hadn’t expected to end up with four. Their names were Sonic, Honeydew, Gogo and Nadine, and she identified each by her coat. Sonic was tricolored, Honeydew was black, Gogo was gray and Nadine had long hair.
In that caption, reproduced by BANG Showbiz, Roan said their personalities made her laugh and that caring for them brought her joy during quarantine. She also acknowledged the work involved in keeping them and encouraged followers to adopt animals and support local shelters.
She returned to the subject during the April 16, 2025, episode of Las Culturistas with Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers. By then, all four had died, but her affection for guinea pigs and their online community remained. She also revealed that she had volunteered at a guinea pig rescue for a year.
“I think they’re the cutest animals on earth,” Roan said. When the hosts asked about keeping one again, she explained that their feeding, cleaning and exercise needs required more attention than people might assume.
Her pets had already become part of her music. Sonic, Honeydew, Gogo and Nadine appeared in the official lyric video for “Love Me Anyway.” In her 2020 post about filming it, Roan recalled how sweetly the four had sat for the camera.
