Airport officials placed the incident at approximately 11 a.m. and identified Runway 1L as the departure runway. Both that runway and neighboring Runway 1R were temporarily closed while crews conducted inspections.
The jet’s left wingtip struck the perimeter fence, airport officials told Aviation Week. The publication reported that the aircraft continued moving before looping back and stopping near the adjacent runway’s overrun area.
The FAA imposed a ground stop, holding affected flights bound for Las Vegas at their departure airports. PEOPLE reported that the restriction began at 12:50 p.m. and had been lifted by 2:30 p.m.
Before the restriction ended, flights headed to Harry Reid were experiencing average departure delays of one hour and 10 minutes, according to FAA information reported by FOX5 Las Vegas. Both runways subsequently reopened following inspections. The FAA said it would investigate. The reason the crew aborted takeoff remains undetermined.

Before the attempted departure, Wahlberg had posted a selfie from his seat aboard the aircraft to Instagram Stories. The photograph carried the words, “His love is eternal.”
Wahlberg and his wife, Jenny McCarthy, have also been planning to make Las Vegas their home. McCarthy confirmed the move in September after the couple listed their longtime Illinois property for sale. They have been married since 2014.
