Dorit Kemsley says her financial problems with estranged husband Paul “PK” Kemsley did not begin when their divorce became contentious. According to a new court filing, she says the imbalance had existed throughout their marriage.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star claims PK “controlled the family finances” and treated her questions about money as though she did not trust him. Dorit says that dynamic eventually led her to stop pressing for details and rely on him to handle bills and major financial decisions, according to court documents reviewed by TMZ.
Her latest filing fits with an account she had already given publicly. Bravo previously quoted Dorit saying PK had been “handling everything” financially even before they married and had paid the “lion’s share” of the family’s expenses for years, leaving her unsure what would happen once their separation changed that arrangement.
PK disputes the broader picture Dorit presents. His filings argue that she earns substantial income through RHOBH and endorsements, spends heavily on luxury goods and should contribute to the expenses herself. The former couple’s financial issues remain unresolved.
Dorit Says PK ‘Controlled the Family Finances’ Throughout Their Marriage
Dorit’s newest filing puts more direct language around an arrangement she has been describing publicly for months. TMZ’s review says she claims that whenever she tried to ask questions so she could understand their financial position or participate in decisions, PK treated the requests as evidence that she did not trust him. Dorit says she eventually stopped pushing and relied on him to manage the money instead.
That description closely tracks what viewers heard during Season 15 of RHOBH. Bravo reported that Dorit said PK had been “handling everything” financially before their 2015 marriage and continued paying most of the family’s expenses for years.
She later described herself as having been “pushed out of the equation,” while emphasizing that she believed she was capable of handling money but did not have the full information she needed to understand their financial position.
A Gas Shutoff Warning Became Part of the Latest Court Fight
One of the most specific allegations in the new filing concerns utility bills at the former couple’s marital home. Dorit says that after their May 2024 separation, PK told her he would continue covering household expenses, but she claims she learned in February 2026 that the gas service was scheduled for shutoff because the account had not been paid.
According to the documents described by TMZ, PK made a payment that prevented the immediate shutoff, but Dorit alleges he did not tell her that he had otherwise stopped paying the utilities. She says arrears accumulated on accounts in her name and damaged her credit as a result.
PK’s position is different. TMZ’s earlier court reporting says he denies promising to cover Dorit’s expenses indefinitely and argues that she has the income to contribute significantly herself. He has also maintained that he continued paying major household costs for an extended period after the separation while trying to get Dorit to share more of the financial burden.
The Mortgage Problem Had Already Exposed the Same Dispute
The utility fight developed alongside a much larger battle over the couple’s Los Angeles home. During a March appearance on Bravo, Dorit told Andy Cohen that she learned only weeks before the public did that the mortgage had not been kept current.
“It was something PK was in charge of. I didn’t know it was not being paid,” she said. Bravo’s coverage also notes that Dorit had previously explained the house was in her name, meaning missed payments could affect her directly even when PK had been the person she expected to handle them.
Us Weekly reported in August that Dorit alleged PK had promised to cover the mortgage and other expenses in place of formal support, while PK countered that she had not contributed to the mortgage and was capable of paying more herself.
A judge later ordered the property sold. Current court reporting says PK was directed to continue paying the mortgage until Dorit moved out, subject to reimbursement from the sale proceeds, while Dorit was ordered to cover the utilities, including past-due amounts.
PK Says Dorit’s Spending Tells a Different Story
PK has repeatedly challenged Dorit’s portrayal of herself as being blindsided financially by pointing to her own spending. Court documents reported by PEOPLE show that he accused her of spending close to $1 million on designer clothing, accessories and travel while the family home was facing serious mortgage problems.
Dorit disputes the way those figures have been characterized. In an interview later summarized by Bravo, she acknowledged spending heavily on designer fashion but said, “It’s my money that I earn, that I work for. Not his money.” She also argued that some of the spending was tied to filming RHOBH and that many purchases were later returned or credited.
Her July court filing put more detail behind that defense, saying approximately $217,000 had been spent on wardrobe for Season 15 and roughly $500,000 across prior seasons over a 26-month period. PK responded that Bravo did not require her to maintain a luxury wardrobe and argued that those costs reflected personal lifestyle choices rather than necessary business expenses.
Their Support Positions Are Moving in Opposite Directions
The same dispute now reaches into child and spousal support. Dorit has sought approximately $21,000 per month in child support and another $22,000 in spousal support, along with hundreds of thousands of dollars in retroactive support, according to TMZ’s July court reporting.
PK’s financial analysis points in the opposite direction. More recent filings reported by TMZ say an accountant working for him calculated that Dorit should pay him $581 per month in child support and argued that neither party should receive spousal support.
His side says Dorit earns more than she acknowledges through television and endorsement income, while Dorit’s lawyers maintain that PK has substantially more resources than he portrays when support obligations are being discussed.
The Divorce Still Includes a Separate Custody Fight
Money is not the only unresolved issue between them. When Dorit filed for divorce in April 2025, PEOPLE reported that she requested sole legal and physical custody of their children, Jagger and Phoenix, while PK later sought joint custody.
More recent filings show that the parenting dispute has become increasingly contentious as well. PK has accused Dorit of controlling when he sees the children and denying him Father’s Day parenting time, while Dorit has argued that his financial decisions put the children’s housing at risk. Neither the custody allegations nor the larger financial dispute has been finally resolved.
