Emma Roberts and her husband, Cody John, are turning the ritual of opening a fresh pack of trading cards into a live show. Fanatics Live has their new channel, Summer Breaks, scheduled to debut November 4 with Disney cards.

“New job alert,” the American Horror Story actress wrote on Instagram on October 31, holding up a handful of cards. Collectors can watch the couple open sealed packs or buy a spot in a break and receive the cards that match their selection.

The two married July 25 at John’s family home in Sun Valley, Idaho. A different kind of deck figured in their engagement two summers earlier. Roberts told Vogue that after John proposed at the family ranch, they drank champagne by the pond and played their favorite card game, gin.

When it comes to picking a sealed box, John has been known to defer to his wife. At a card shop in East Hampton last year, he stood back while Roberts ran her hand over the boxes. “Emma’s got a hot hand right now,” he told The New Yorker. “Cody’s ice,” Roberts replied.

The opening lineup includes a Topps Disney Mint break where buyers choose a character and a Disney Vault break where they choose a movie. On November 5, Roberts and John are scheduled to open 2026 Topps Chrome Star Wars Sapphire cards.

Sports Illustrated reported that Summer Breaks plans to run seven days a week, with Roberts appearing up to five times a month, particularly for new releases. Sports cards are also part of the lineup.

In a video for the Summer Breaks Instagram account, Roberts held up “Leap of Faith,” a card from the 2021 Star Wars Galaxy set. “My husband got me this card, and I literally cried when I opened it,” she said.

She also picked out a card featuring Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts from Iron Man and a sketch of Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise. The sketch made her list because it’s her 5-year-old son Rhodes’ favorite ride.

Roberts described the couple’s display at home in Sag Harbor in her 2025 New Yorker interview. They rotated favorite cards on a stand so they could look at them over morning coffee. The rest of the collection went in a vintage Louis Vuitton trunk in the attic.

Jimmy Kimmel and Emma Roberts Had Different Ideas About Which Cards to Keep

Roberts gave viewers a preview of a break on the October 28 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! She and Kimmel opened packs of 1986 Fleer baseball cards, looking for New York Mets including Gary Carter and Darryl Strawberry. Carter turned up, and Kimmel eventually pulled Strawberry, too.

Another card caught Roberts’ eye for a reason Kimmel had missed. When he dismissed it as worthless, she asked to keep it. John roots for the San Francisco Giants, and she wanted the card for him.
