Frankie Muniz has spent the past six weeks looking at parts of his life he says can no longer be ignored.
The 40-year-old Malcolm in the Middle star shared a lengthy message on September 18th describing the period as a “nightmare I’m praying to wake up from.” He said everything had felt heavy, unclear and as though it was falling apart at the same time.
Muniz wrote about being forced into honest self-reflection and recognizing areas of his life that he wants to change, connecting that process to something he had read about “hitting rock bottom.”
The post comes a little more than two months after Muniz and Paige Price announced that they were ending their marriage after a private period of separation.
Muniz Says Six Weeks Have Felt Like a ‘Nightmare’

“The last 6 weeks of my life have been a nightmare I’m praying to wake up from,” Muniz wrote. “Everything felt heavy, unclear, and like it was falling apart at the same time.”
He added that he “wouldn’t wish this season on anyone,” but said the experience had also removed some of the distractions that previously allowed him to avoid looking closely at himself.
“The unexpected gift in the middle of it is that I’ve had nowhere to hide,” he wrote. “I’ve had time to sit with myself, do real self-reflection, and finally see the areas of my life that need work if I want to become a better version of me.”
He then referenced something he had recently read about “hitting rock bottom” becoming the event that forces changes a person should have made earlier. “That idea has been sitting with me,” Muniz wrote.
He said he hopes his view of the period will change with time. “In five years I believe I’ll look back at this exact low point and feel grateful for it, because the high I’ll be standing on then only exists because I went through this,” he wrote.
He Had Been Posting About a Difficult Period Before This

Muniz had shared several shorter posts during the preceding weeks that suggested he was going through an emotionally difficult period without explaining exactly what had happened privately.
On August 26th, he wrote on X that he had not realized a broken heart could feel physically painful. “Am I naive to say that I didn’t know that having a broken heart actually meant your heart physically aches,” he wrote, adding that he would rather break his back again.
On September 1st, his message became even shorter: “Struggling.” Five days later, Muniz posted childhood photographs and wrote, “Sometimes I wish I could go back to this,” according to E! News.
His July Separation Provides Context, Not an Explanation
Muniz and Price announced on July 1st that they were ending their marriage after a period of separation they had kept private. “After 10 beautiful years together, we’ve grown in ways that made us realize our relationship feels most natural and strong as a deep friendship and as co-parents,” they said in their announcement.
The two share 5-year-old son Mauz Mosley Muniz, whom they described as the center of their world. Muniz also publicly thanked Price for supporting his career and said she had put some of her own ambitions aside while he pursued his. He added that the respect and friendship between them would remain even as the marriage ended.
Muniz and Price met in 2016 and became engaged in November 2018. They eloped on October 3rd, 2019, then held a larger wedding ceremony on February 21st, 2020. Their son was born March 22nd, 2021.
Muniz said the two planned to continue building Muniz Racing together while co-parenting Mauz. “That foundation of respect and friendship isn’t going anywhere,” he wrote.
