Hailee Steinfeld has revealed the name of her baby girl with Josh Allen in the most personal way: a letter written directly to her daughter.
The actress and singer shared the update Friday, June 19, through her Beau Society newsletter. People reported that Steinfeld addressed the letter to Harper Haize Allen, confirming the full name of the daughter she and the Buffalo Bills quarterback welcomed in April.
Steinfeld and Allen had not shared their daughter’s name when they first announced her birth. The new letter gave fans the update while keeping the focus on motherhood, privacy and the small details of the baby’s first months.
The couple’s daughter is their first child together.
Steinfeld Wrote Directly to Harper

In the letter, Steinfeld wrote about the early months of motherhood with tenderness and honesty. People reported that she described the season as “beautiful and exhausting,” “sacred” and “so special,” while reflecting on how quickly her daughter is already changing.
One of the most emotional lines centered on the way she and Allen look at Harper. “Your daddy and I look at you often and ask each other the same question: How did we get so lucky to have you?” Steinfeld wrote, according to People.
The Letter Captured Her New Life as a Mom
Steinfeld said motherhood has changed how she measures time. Instead of months or years, she wrote about life moving through ounces, missed naps, diaper changes and the quiet victory of getting a sleeping baby into the crib.
InStyle reported that the letter also showed how deeply Steinfeld’s sense of herself has shifted since Harper’s arrival.
Steinfeld wrote that motherhood has introduced her to softer, stronger, more patient and more present versions of herself, according to InStyle. She also said Harper has already taught her more than she could teach in return.
Harper Is the Couple’s First Child
Steinfeld and Allen welcomed Harper in April. People reported that the couple announced the pregnancy in December 2025, seven months after they married in Santa Barbara, California.

InStyle reported that Steinfeld and Allen were first spotted together in May 2023, made their first official public appearance at a Buffalo Sabres game later that year, became Instagram official in July 2024 and announced their engagement in November 2024.
Steinfeld Is Trying to Stay Present
Days before publishing the letter, Steinfeld said during a Substack livestream that her summer focus is Harper.
People reported that Steinfeld described this as the only summer her daughter will be a “baby baby,” adding that she wants to be fully present while Harper is still small enough to hold through the season.
“The goal is to just be incredibly present and truly soak up every moment,” Steinfeld said, according to People. “Because life happens and life moves fast anyway.”
