Halle Berry and fiancé Van Hunt were photographed heading to lunch at The Bird Streets Club in West Hollywood, days after a court decision in her custody dispute with ex-husband Olivier Martinez.
Berry, 60, wore a loose black blouse, wide-legged jeans and a cream-colored hat. Hunt, 56, walked beside her in a graphic T-shirt and cropped black pants.
An unnamed source described the musician’s role during the proceedings in a November 6 report from Page Six. “Van has really been Halle’s rock through all of this,” the source said.
Berry’s representative did not immediately respond to the outlet’s request for comment. The former spouses’ case concerns their 13-year-old son, Maceo, and has involved both a request for a restraining order and disagreements over parenting time.

Hunt was photographed arriving with Berry at Los Angeles Superior Court on October 19. The couple later left the courthouse holding hands after the day’s proceedings.
His involvement extended beyond accompanying her. Page Six reported that Hunt took the witness stand on October 23, with his testimony heard behind closed doors.
Berry’s daughter Nahla Aubry, 18, also submitted a written declaration supporting her mother. Nahla, whom Berry shares with former partner Gabriel Aubry, said the allegations were inconsistent with the parent she knew and with what she had observed of Berry’s relationship with Maceo.
Judge Dissolved the Restraining Order but Kept Custody Restrictions
Martinez sought a domestic violence restraining order after alleging that Berry physically assaulted Maceo during a September 26 incident at her home. Berry denied abusing their son and described the encounter in court documents as play-wrestling.
On October 29, Judge Shelley Kaufman denied Martinez’s request for a permanent restraining order and dissolved the temporary order. The Los Angeles Times reported that Martinez had not met the burden of proof required for the protective order.
The parenting arrangement remained in place. Martinez retained primary physical custody, while Berry’s visits were limited to daytime hours on Mondays, Tuesdays and alternating weekends. According to USA TODAY, Berry retained joint legal custody, but her requests to restore equal physical custody and overnight visits were temporarily denied pending further proceedings.
Both legal teams welcomed different parts of the decision. Berry’s attorney, Marina Beck, praised the dissolution of the restraining order and said her client remained focused on her family’s well-being. Martinez’s attorney, Patrick Baghdaserians, told ABC News that the parenting arrangement served their son’s interests.
Berry Confirmed Her Engagement to Hunt During a February Interview
Berry publicly confirmed her relationship with Hunt in September 2020. She posted a photograph wearing a T-shirt bearing his name, following earlier social media hints about a new partner.
By June 2025, Hunt had revealed that he had proposed. In an interview reported by PEOPLE, he said the proposal was on hold. Berry explained that neither felt marriage was necessary to validate their relationship, although she could see them marrying because they wanted to.
She addressed the subject again on the February 5, 2026, episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. As Us Weekly reported, Berry disputed the suggestion that she had rejected Hunt.
“But of course I said yes, I would marry him!” she told Fallon, showing him her engagement ring. At the time, she said they had not set a wedding date.
