Anson Williams has been ordered to make payments to his former wife and her attorney after a judge ruled on disputed financial obligations from their divorce. The decision also requires the Happy Days actor to hand over American Express rewards points accumulated through a corporate account.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Williams did not attend an October 1 hearing or file a response to the claims brought by Jackie Williams, also known as Jackie Gerken.
Jackie returned to court in August 2026, alleging that repeated requests for payment had gone unanswered. She sought money connected to insurance premiums, pension benefits and the handling of company funds.
Her application cited a 2023 divorce judgment establishing Williams’ financial responsibilities. The subsequent ruling sets specific payment amounts and a deadline for settling them.
Williams Must Pay $47,681 and Transfer 160,214 Amex Points
The order requires Williams to pay Jackie $40,181.04 and another $7,500 directly to her attorney. Together, the cash payments total $47,681.04, due by 5 p.m. on November 2, 2026. He must separately transfer 160,214 American Express Membership Rewards points to his former wife.
Among the expenses identified in the ruling were nearly $18,000 in unpaid life insurance premiums, approximately $17,000 involving unauthorized use of company funds and another $2,000 in payments Williams made to himself, according to TMZ’s account of the documents.
Jackie’s Earlier Filing Also Sought Pension Payments
The original application included requests for more than $2,000 in Directors Guild of America pension funds and approximately $1,300 associated with AFTRA pension benefits.
Jackie also wanted the corporate American Express account reactivated so she could receive her share of its accumulated rewards. At that stage, she was seeking half of the points.
In describing her efforts to collect the money, Jackie alleged that Williams had ignored her requests despite knowing she was struggling to afford further legal proceedings. She argued that pursuing payment was creating an additional financial burden because of the expense of retaining lawyers.
Williams Filed for Divorce Twice After Marrying Jackie in 1988
Williams first filed for divorce on September 11, 2019, citing irreconcilable differences after more than three decades of marriage. He withdrew that petition within weeks.
He filed again in June 2020. Explaining the second petition to TMZ, Williams said the couple had tried remaining separated and living independently after dismissing the earlier case. That arrangement had failed, he said, and they needed a divorce decree to clarify their marital status.
The marriage followed Williams’ decade playing Warren “Potsie” Weber on Happy Days. The sitcom aired from 1974 to 1984, with a cast that included Ron Howard, Henry Winkler and Don Most. Williams subsequently built a television directing career, working on series including Beverly Hills, 90210, Melrose Place and Charmed.
Don Most Served as Best Man at Williams’ 2023 Wedding
Williams married writer and real estate broker Sharon MaHarry on May 6, 2023, at their home in Ojai, California. Most, his longtime Happy Days costar, served as best man.
In a joint interview with PEOPLE, the couple explained that they had first met years earlier when Sharon sold Williams the property while he was still married to Jackie.
They later lost touch before reconnecting after his divorce. Sharon, whose previous husband had died, described finding a new relationship after years of marriage and the loss that followed.
Williams and His New Wife Collaborated on ‘Crazy Mama’
The couple have also worked together on Crazy Mama: A True Story of Love and Madness, a stage production written by Sharon under her professional name, Sharon Scott Williams, and directed by her husband.
Adapted from her memoir, the play stars fellow Happy Days performer Linda Purl, with Will Huse appearing as the Blues Man. It explores Sharon’s childhood and her family’s experiences with her mother’s mental illness.
The Rubicon Theatre Company production began performances at New York’s 59E59 Theaters on September 16, 2026. Its engagement was scheduled to conclude on October 18.
