Harry Styles did not say Taylor Swift’s name at Madison Square Garden. He did not say Travis Kelce’s name either. He still gave the crowd an easy one to catch.
Near the end of his August 29 concert, Styles started talking about the building itself. “We’re at Madison Square Garden, home of the world champion New York Knicks!” he told the audience, according to Variety.
Then he added five more words: “And they also do weddings.”
The audience reaction filled in the rest. Swift and Kelce married at the same arena on July 3, less than two months before Styles brought his Together, Together residency to New York.
Styles Let the Arena Fill In the Names

Styles delivered the line late in Saturday’s show after praising Madison Square Garden and the Knicks. Video from inside the arena shows him leaving a pause before the wedding joke.
The crowd started screaming almost immediately. Styles smiled and moved on without explaining the reference.
He never directly mentioned Swift or Kelce onstage. The line worked because the venue had recently become part of one of the year’s most public celebrity weddings.

Swift and Kelce married at Madison Square Garden on July 3. AP reported that Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony and Stevie Nicks performed during the star-packed event.
The secrecy around the wedding ended when the arena displayed “JUST&T MARRIED” outside after the ceremony. AP also reported that Austin Swift served as Taylor’s man of honor, while Jason Kelce served as Travis’ best man.
The Garden later posted the newlywed message on social media, giving Styles’ joke an even cleaner setup when he returned to the same building in August.
Styles Was Already Part of the Wedding Conversation
Styles and Swift briefly dated in late 2012 and early 2013, which is why his name still tends to surface around major Swift relationship moments.
Variety reported before the wedding that Styles had received an invitation but could not attend because he was on tour. Zoë Kravitz, his fiancée and Swift’s longtime friend, attended the ceremony.
Styles was performing at Wembley Stadium in London on the night Swift and Kelce married. His set included “Two Ghosts,” and fans quickly connected the song choice to Swift, though there was no confirmation that it was selected because of the wedding.
The Madison Square Garden line needed less guesswork. Styles was standing in the building where the wedding had taken place and joked that the arena “also” hosts weddings.
The Joke Came Early in His 30-Show MSG Run
Styles began his latest Madison Square Garden residency on August 26. Saturday’s concert was the third show of the run.
MSG Entertainment says Styles is playing 30 shows at The Garden between August 26 and October 31. The residency is the only U.S. stop on his 2026 Together, Together tour.
The shows run on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with Jamie xx opening the New York dates. Styles’ final Madison Square Garden performance is scheduled for Halloween night.
