Hilary Swank is expecting her third child with husband Philip Schneider, announcing the news in a family video with a surprise built into the choreography.

The 52-year-old actress shared the clip on Instagram on Oct. 14, according to PEOPLE.

The couple are already parents to 3-year-old twins, daughter Aya and son Ohm, who joined them for the announcement.

Swank and Schneider married in 2018 in a redwood preserve in Carmel, California. He had proposed during a trip to Colorado, Us Weekly reported.

With the lights off, the family danced with glow sticks attached to their bodies, outlining their arms, legs and torsos. Swank moved toward the camera to reveal an additional, much smaller figure positioned at her belly.

“A lot of people have been asking what project I’m doing next, this one releases in December,” she wrote, adding a wink, a baby angel and heart-hands emojis.

The reveal prompted questions alongside the congratulations. “Whatsssss? Wait, am I crazy, or are you pregnant again?” one follower asked, according to Tyla. Another praised the way she shared the news: “What a fun announcement.”

She Announced Her First Pregnancy on Live Television

Swank first revealed she was expecting during an Oct. 5, 2022, appearance on Good Morning America. She was promoting her ABC drama Alaska Daily when the conversation turned to becoming a mother.

“I’m going to be a mom, and not just of one, but of two,” she said. “I can’t believe it.” Her accompanying Instagram announcement also borrowed from movie publicity. “Coming soon…DOUBLE feature!” she wrote beside images of herself holding her belly, CBS News reported.

She announced the twins’ arrival on Easter Sunday in April 2023, when she was 48. The photograph showed her standing on a balcony at sunset, holding one newborn in each arm with their faces turned away from the camera. “It wasn’t easy. But boy (and girl!) was it worth it,” she wrote in the post, documented by GMA.

She Saved the Twins’ Names for Valentine’s Day

Swank waited until February 2024 to introduce Aya and Ohm by name. She posted a beach photograph with the twins facing the water and their names written in the sand behind them.

The announcement came ahead of a week of interviews about a film and a business partnership. Swank said she wanted followers to hear the names of her “two little loves” from her first, according to GMA.

She ended the Valentine’s Day message with a question familiar to parents taking babies to the beach: “Who else has babies that think sand is edible?”

Swank Says Her Established Career Gives Her More Time to Parent

In a May interview with PEOPLE, Swank said she had wanted children earlier, but circumstances had kept it from happening. She now has greater freedom to choose when to work and when to be home.

She credited years of personal growth with giving her more patience and emotional capacity for parenting. She also said the twins teach her to stay present, something she continues to find harder than it sounds.

In an April 2025 interview with Women’s Health, Swank described her fascination with watching them develop. “I’m really interested in their brains. I’m fascinated about what makes them tick,” she said.

She also explained how she fits other commitments around their routine, using their naps to exercise, read scripts, take meetings or give interviews.
