Jalen Hurts is not turning his absence from A.J. Brown’s wedding into a public sign of trouble.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback spoke to reporters Wednesday and said his relationship with Brown has not changed, even as speculation around the wide receiver’s future continues to follow the team. According to TMZ, Hurts said he and Brown are “really good” and that he was happy for Brown after seeing photos from the receiver’s wedding.

The answer came after Hurts was asked about Brown’s future and whether the wide receiver might not be in Philadelphia this season. Brown remains with the Eagles for now, but his name has stayed in the middle of offseason trade speculation.

Hurts did not sound interested in turning the wedding question into drama. TMZ reported that he said nothing had changed since the end of the season and that he was “very happy” for Brown, his wife, and their family.

The quarterback also congratulated Brown on entering marriage, calling it “a beautiful thing.” That mattered because Hurts’ absence from the wedding had already become part of the online conversation around Brown’s future.

The Trade Question Came With an Awkward Pause

The exchange began with a small comic beat. Hurts was drinking water when a reporter asked about Brown and the trade rumors, creating a brief pause before he joked that he had picked the right question to sip on.

Once he answered seriously, Hurts kept Brown’s situation in uncertain terms. Bleeding Green Nation reported that Hurts said “nothing can replace all of the greatness” he and Brown achieved together, while also speaking in terms of “if” Brown is not on the roster rather than treating a move as settled.

The Eagles Are Also Installing a New Offense

Hurts’ comments came during Philadelphia’s Phase 3 offseason program, as the Eagles continue building their offense under new coordinator Sean Mannion. Bleeding Green Nation reported that Hurts described himself as being in “sponge mode” with Mannion, taking direction and trying to absorb the new system.

That context is useful because Brown’s future is only one part of Philadelphia’s offensive reset. Hurts is learning a new structure while the team deals with questions about whether one of its most important passing-game pieces will remain in place.

NFL.com reported that Mannion has already praised Hurts, saying the quarterback “can do anything we ask of him” and pointing to his accuracy, athleticism, fundamentals, and approach in meetings.

Hurts Pointed to Other Receiving Options

Hurts did not dismiss Brown’s importance, but he also made it clear that the Eagles have other players they trust. Bleeding Green Nation reported that Hurts mentioned confidence in DeVonta Smith, rookie Makai Lemon, Dallas Goedert, and the rest of the receiving group.

That answer sounded less like a goodbye to Brown than a quarterback trying not to let speculation control the room. Hurts can acknowledge what Brown has meant to the Eagles while still preparing for whatever roster the team has when the season arrives.

Hurts Gave the Rumors Very Little Fuel

The most notable part of Hurts’ answer may have been how little drama he gave the conversation. He did not complain about the wedding chatter, suggest the relationship had frayed, or treat Brown’s departure as official.

Instead, he praised Brown, congratulated him, and kept the football answer careful. For now, the Eagles still have trade rumors around a star receiver, a new offensive coordinator installing his system, and a quarterback trying to keep the public message steady.
