Jason Sudeikis is speaking honestly about why dating feels more complicated at this stage of his life.

The Ted Lasso star appeared on the June 2 episode of the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, where he talked about single life, parenthood, and what dating looks like years after his split from Olivia Wilde.

Sudeikis, 50, said he is single and described dating as having its “ups and downs.” His comments focused less on celebrity dating and more on how difficult it can be to meet someone while raising two children.

Sudeikis Said Dating Multiple People Feels Overwhelming

During the podcast, Sudeikis said he likes being connected to people, but he does not feel comfortable dating several people at once.

“I like being in relation to people,” he said, according to People.

He added that dating multiple people feels “daunting and overwhelming,” especially as a parent.

The comment gave the interview a clear focus. Sudeikis was not announcing a new relationship or turning single life into a comeback story. He was describing why casual dating does not fit easily into his life now.

His Children Come First

Sudeikis shares two children with Wilde: son Otis, 12, and daughter Daisy, 9.

He used a show-business phrase to explain where his children fit in his life. Anyone he dates, he said, is never “number one on the call sheet.” That place belongs to his kids.

Sudeikis also said his children may even come before himself, while acknowledging that he still has to keep his own “cup” full so he has something to give others.

That made the dating question less about whether he wants a relationship and more about how much room a relationship can take up when his children remain the first priority.

He Would Consider More Children if He Fell in Love

The conversation also turned to whether Sudeikis would ever want more children.

His answer was not closed off. He said he would consider it if he fell in love.

That response kept the subject practical. Sudeikis did not make it sound like he is dating with a fixed plan, but he also did not rule out another family chapter under the right circumstances.

His Split From Wilde Was Heavily Covered

Sudeikis and Wilde first met in 2011 at a Saturday Night Live finale party. They became engaged in January 2013 and ended their relationship in 2020.

Their breakup drew heavy public attention, followed by coverage of custody issues involving their children. People reported that the former couple later agreed to joint custody in 2023.

People also reported that Sudeikis and Wilde were seen together in Los Angeles in April 2025 while spending time with their children.

On Friends Keep Secrets, Sudeikis did not frame dating around old breakup headlines. He kept the answer on his current life: he is single, casual dating feels overwhelming, and any future relationship has to fit around the children he puts first.
