Miley Cyrus released “Let’s Get Married” on September 18th, the same day as her 10th studio album, Bass Persuades. Maxx Morando is in the video with her.
The black-and-white clip starts with the couple arriving at Chateau Marmont with friends. Later there is champagne, a hotel bed and a bathtub.
Cyrus and Morando have been together for six years. She confirmed their engagement in December 2025, after Morando proposed during a trip to Kyoto.
“We’ve been together six years, and I’ve never gotten the ick,” Cyrus told Zane Lowe. She asked Morando what they were supposed to do if one of them got it after the wedding.
Maxx Morando Joins Cyrus at Chateau Marmont
Photographer Mert Alas directed the video at Chateau Marmont, according to Pitchfork. Cyrus and Morando arrive with a group, check in and head toward the elevator. The camera follows them through the hotel.
Morando is still there when the party moves upstairs. He kisses Cyrus, lies beside her on a bed and later gets into the bathtub with her. Friends wander in and out, and the camera sometimes looks like it has been passed to whoever was closest.
There is no ceremony. Nobody exchanges vows or rings. He is Maxx, in a Miley video about wanting to get married.
Cyrus Asked Morando What Happens if Marriage Gives Her ‘the Ick’
Cyrus said even ordinary errands are better when Morando is there. In her interview with Zane Lowe, she said six years had passed without “the ick.” She still asked what they would do if it happened later.
“You deal with it and you move on,” Morando told her. He also said “the ick is for when you’re in fifth grade.” A short time later, he did something that gave her the ick. Cyrus did not say what it was. She told him not to do it again.
Cyrus nearly found the engagement ring before the proposal. During a walk in Kyoto, she decided Morando must have it and gave him a “pat down.” The ring was in a pocket near his knee, one place she did not check. After finding nothing, Cyrus went into a bathroom and talked herself out of throwing a tantrum.
Later, she turned around and saw Morando on one knee. “He totally got away with it,” Cyrus said, according to People. She also told Lowe, “I don’t know if everybody gets to find their Maxx.”
Morando Worked on ‘Bass Persuades,’ but Not ‘Let’s Get Married’

“Let’s Get Married” is the third track on Bass Persuades. The published credits list 10 songs, with nine original tracks followed by a Model/Actriz remix of the title song. It is Cyrus’s first album for Atlantic Records and her first release under the shortened name Miley.
Morando is credited as a producer on the title track, “Aftermath,” “REDLIGHTS,” “Innocent Ways,” “Snow” and the closing remix. He co-wrote “Aftermath” and “Innocent Ways.” His name does not appear in the credits for “Let’s Get Married.” Model/Actriz also appears on “Different Religion,” while Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow is featured on “Neon Signs.”
Cyrus told Lowe, “I think I either try to say things in the most beautiful way possible or just spit it out.” She put “Let’s Get Married” in the second group, even with the diamonds and visions of white in the lyrics. She also compared the song’s sound to Beach House and Cocteau Twins.
“This album happened fast but that’s been my life for 20 years,” Cyrus wrote when the record came out. She will perform material from Bass Persuades during two Hollywood Bowl concerts on October 16th and 18th.
